Vital!

Had my first bad injury. Ended up fracturing my humorous right below the shoulder ball and had to get surgery to Put it back in to place. I was breaking in my new Crf250 and on the last lap I landed real wheel heavy on a 40 ft table and ended up sort of falling off the back of the bike. Super basic crash but I just fell just the wrong way. Bike had zero damage.

Curious if anyone has gone through a similar injury? Hoping to hear some success stories. Doctor says 6-8 months I should be close to 100% and ready to ride. Non Surgery was an option but would have lost about 60% use of shoulder.

I've never broken that bone, but I did have six shoulder dislocations, which caused a lot of trauma to that area. I had a reconstructive surgery of the rotator cuff tissues and I am 1,000,000% happy with the decision to have the operation. My doctor also predicted 6 months to fully heal, and that I would never regain full mobility of the socket. It really only took a couple months before I could do pushups and I was riding again (gently,) at that time. I also do not have a significant change in my mobility - I can't scratch my own back as high up as with the other hand, but that's all.
Take your time with the healing and don't skimp on the rehab. You'll be just fine.

Damn that sucks. Hope you heal up and can get more seat time on your new scooter.

I havent broken the joint but did break mid shaft on the humorous and it took 4 months before my surgeon let me get on the bike at all. I was healed up in time for hunting season here in Michigan and the concussion of the rifle going off left me with some pain 4 months post surgery. I was able to make the first race of the season a full 8 months after surgery with no issues other than some scar tissue breaking loose

I did the same thing. Looks like you have more screws than mine.

Glad to hear! My PT said as lot of the rehab exercises are similar to rotator cuff surgery recovery. The work outs hurt like a bitch, but they say its normal. I had surgery 2 Fridays ago and had PT that Monday to get the shoulder moving.

Did you make close to a 100% recovery?

My plate is very high up on my shoulder. I can’t raise my arm straight up like normal.

yea, I started physical therapy 2 days after surgery. Its super painful. My physical therapist and doctor say the first 4-6 weeks of therapy is when I gain 90% of my mobility back.

I tore my rotator cuff also. You should make a 100 percent recovery.

I broke mine, including collar bone, 18 months ago and opted for surgery. I have a plate and screws very similar to yours and I am back to about 95% mobility. It took 6 months of PT and strengthening before I felt like I could get back on the bike.

I broke mine 4 years ago along with my neck, ribs, sternum and tore my pec on the other side. The ball was broken off like yours but also shattered so it was a difficult fix. Needed two surgeries approx 10 weeks apart which impeded recovery pretty bad. It took almost two years before I finished gaining strength and mobility. I’d say it’s about 70% now for mobility, strength seems good, doesn’t hurt often anymore. Shoulder replacement was avoided thankfully, which was my biggest fear.

Good luck with your recovery! Put in the hard work and rehab it right.

better than tearing ligaments. broke the ball and tore the labrum. stuck throttle and fell off the back upon landing it. it was a year on not much sleep. I bet you will be good in 6 weeks. just keep it moving.

Dude, I did the same thing. Let go of the bike and fell off the back and just fell the wrong way. Its wild the damage I did from such a basic fall.

My son broke his similar to yours, but was not displaced, so he didn’t have surgery. I wanna say it was about 4 months off the bike, but at 15, he was back to normal pretty quickly.

The PT is crazy painful for shoulders. I tire my labrum and bicep tendon off the bone and had anchors to reattach them. The rehab was gnarly, I always felt like I was damaging it worse, because of how bad it hurt. But ya gotta do what they say and try and not short yourself. Now is the time to get your mobility back. Don’t short yourself.

It was my first day back out after a year off the bike. I was breaking in my new crf. My arms were super pumped up by the end of the ride. When I landed rear wheel heavy, I was way back on the seat, and I had like an 1/8 throttle whiskey throttle. I knew I couldn't correct it, so I just let the bike go and kind of fell of the back. Super tame fall but just landed right.

100%. The movements are painful, but I do them 3 times a day. Its a bitch but my PT is happy with the results. Today marks 3 weeks after surgery.

Don’t start slacking and you will get the results you want. My right shoulder is 100%. I need the left one done eventually, but I’m trying to put it off as long as possible. I dread the PT, more than the surgery itself. lol

I had a similar injury. Broke my humorous and broke/shattered my humoral head January 14 2021. . It was a brutal injury and took some time to heal. But I was back on the bike and racing November of that year. Not much discomfort when riding but it does get sore. I actually fell like the motion while riding helps with stiffness and soreness. Increases flexibility. I did PT 4-5 days a week plus acupuncture and cold laser treatment. I was willing to try anything to make sure I got back to riding. And of course work. I’m a professional firefighter so my job is pretty physical. I’m able to do both. I’m 48 years old. So I’m old but have always healed pretty well. Just take your time. Listen to the Drs and to PT. It’s hard to tell from this X-ray but I shattered the back side and they had to reconstruct it with epoxy.

My arm was about 4 times the size for a few weeks. Tomorrow marks 4 weeks post-surgery as I still have bruising in certain areas. My brusing was not quite as bad as theianoshow pic above

2 days after the accident. I have pretty small arms. It blew up super huge.

Last picture was taken a few days ago. Swelling went down but man the shoulder feels weird still. I got the green light to take off the sling during the days and let my arm act normal
