Hey everyone, I have been developing an android app throughout my time in college, and it's getting close to a releasable state. I figured I'd post here to see if anyone would like to help me beta test the app before I release it on the google play store. Here's a little bit about the app:

MotoLogger is a GPS lap time logger that can also be used to track bike maintenance and setups. The lap timer feature uses your mobile device's GPS to record your lap times around custom user-defined tracks. All lap times (including optimal laps) recorded with the app can be viewed on a map to see the lines taken on the track. Individual laps can be visually compared with other laps of the same recorded session to see where you lose and gain time on the track. MotoLogger supports the Dual XGPS160 device as well so you can record sessions with it and upload them to the app via Bluetooth. MotoLogger allows you to track statistics on your bike such as laps, distance, and time logged based on each recorded session. The app can also track setup details such as suspension clicker settings and tire pressures. Each saved setup can track your sessions so you can view sessions that have been recorded under a specific setup.

There are a few other minor features I didn't mention here but if you are interested you can check out the app landing page: https://www.motologger.app

If you are interested in helping me test the app out, you must have an android device running Android 8 (Oreo) or greater.

Send me an email at support@motologger.app if you would like to participate. Please include the type of android device you have, the version of Android it is running (if you know it), and the email you use for you google play store account so I can add you in as a beta tester.

Good luck with your venture, I don't have an Android device, otherwise I would help you out!

Wish I could help you out, but I don't use Android devices.

Are you trying to break into LitPros untapped base since they only focus on iOS?

This is cool. Best of luck to you, I also am on iPhone but I think the potential is there is your package with an east way to attach the phone to the bike, bar pad sleeve maybe?

Kinda. This whole project started around two years ago when I bet a friend of mine that I could make something similar for android and it just grew from there. The lap time aspect was supposed to be the only aspect of the app but then ideas came to me that I would find useful when riding so I implemented them as I went.

Can you use the GPS data obtained from a Samsung watch so the phone can remain safely in your pits?

Right now only the XGPS160 device is supported as an external GPS but I am looking into support for different types of smart watches post release.

Yes the app supports only android smartphones for now. If you still want to participate send me an email at support@motologger.app and include the email you use for your google play store account.

Is this due to only using .kml files (google maps)?

The file type doesn't matter too much as it will just need to be parsed differently for each file type so I can process the data. The reason I support the XGPS160 for now is that they have a publicly available API that makes it much easier to connect and transfer data between the app and the device. Each smart watch out there uses a different API to communicate with their smart watches, so in order to support those I will need to integrate each of their APIs.

Sounds exactly like the MX Buddy app. Being able to see lap times and individual section times definitely makes riding a whole lot more fun. I think MX buddy is only for Apple devices. A similar app for Android would be awesome. Good luck.

MXBuddy would read the files from that device. I don't believe the app in this thread will have any file import function so no, your gps will not work.
