I read an article a while back saying they're planning on using the city streets along with parts of the Strip near the Bellagio Hotel.

It also mentioned that the pedestrian bridges that cross the Strip would be prime viewing spots for the spectators.

Day race or night race? Night race would be cool.

I am sure it will be a night race, Las Vegas is ugly in the sunshine. I have seen two different track layouts, both run right down Las Vegas Blvd. I would imagine the pedestrian bridges would be closed during the race. Seems like the pedestrian bridges in Singapore are covered with advertising, no real way to see anything from the bridge.

No one wants to go to COTA in the summer.

Just read where we'll have Seb back in the driver's seat next race.

As far as them racing in Vegas, that's cool and all, but not near as cool as if Watkins Glen would get itself back up to standards to host the second race here in the states.

History.
Deep history.

Yeah, kinda my point.

I've seen many big time series debut in Texas in the middle of summer.
It always amazed me.

One year IMSA decided to come to TMS during the summer. Some teams were yanking the windshield washer systems out of their rental cars to try to cool their brakes.

Volkswagen set to green light Audi, Porsche F1 programmes.

I read about it back in January, so I don't think it's an April fools things.

Porsche to partner with Red Bull. They could acquire part of the team or buy AlphaTauri.

Audi offered McLaren €500m to buy their F1 team, but it now looks like they're looking at having their own works team starting 2026 when F1 introduces the new engine regulations. Audi was also interested in buying McLaren's sportscar business.

Peugeot is also interested in joining F1 starting 2026. They could potentially partner up with Alpine.

Andretti racing has been trying to get into F1 but its seems they dont want him which is strange, about the most recognized race family's in the world and also a F1 champion and they have the funds to buy in. I guess F1 is in the drivers seat with all the popularity so they are being picky.

I read about that. Wolff and Horner are on the same page concerning Andretti. Both recognize the name but want him to prove that he can add value to F1.

Currently the funds in F1 are distributed amongst 10 teams and that means the teams will get less of the pie if he joins the grid. That's one of their concern. If he brings more viewership that'll ultimately mean more profits. I read something that said Andretti thinks he can add an easy $100m to F1's bottom line.

The $200m entry fee is ditributed to the teams to help out in case profits come short for the first few years.

To me it's a no brainer. American team owner, American driver(s), and 3 rounds in the US. His long term plan is to build the car in the US. Fans would get behind that in a big way.

There's only room for 2 more entries on the grid since it's capped at 12 teams. After that if someone wants to enter F1 they'll need to buy a team. IMO, the sooner they have 12 teams on the grid the better. The value of teams are going to go up.

Not sure how long Haas plans to stick around. Andretti wanted to buy him out, but they said no. With no title sponsor, I'm not sure how long he wants to fund it himself.

Yep but both Wolf and Horner see a Andretti team as a threat not so much to the bottom line and money but to a team that could be on top very quickly, I think that's why they dont want them. To show how conceited and how bad their over inflated egos are if you dont follow F1 you would have no idea who Wolf and Horner are but even non racing fans know who Mario and Michael Andretti are. If the season for Hass keeps up like it is now they will have no problem getting another title sponsor and maybe he will sell to Andretti, who knows.

Maybe Aston Martian team will be for sale down the road as Papa Stroll is running it into the ground by sticking his fingers in everything and not letting the guys who know what their doing run the team, I hope Vettle gets the boot too.

I don't see Stroll selling the team unless the kid gets bored with it. The new place he's building is a big investment in that team's future.

I like Vettel, so I don't want to see him go just yet.

I was listening to the Scuderia F1 podcast while I slept. Did they say the French GP might be bounced from the schedule? I might have been dreaming because I can’t find it in any of their podcasts. It could have been on the Monkey Seat podcast as it’s also in the rotation.

China and Singapore are returning and with F1 going to Vegas, one of the current circuits will have to be dropped from the schedule for 2023.

France could be the one, but there's other circuits being mentioned.

No Formula One race last week so no one's been posting or contributing to this thread. I was about to say something about the upcoming race this weekend when I saw the last post from a few days ago. Knowing what I know now this is all so terribly sad.RIP free at last. Sad

Was fortunate to have a long vacation and flew out to Australia. Managed a quick detour to fly down to Melbourne to check the action this week. First time ever being at an F1 event. Some quick photos from the opening day…. Awesome experience and weather here should be amazing.

4 DRS zones. Too much of a good thing? Keep the pictures coming Steven.

Vettel was fined €5000 for riding a scooter on track after FP1 to get back to his pit.

They removed a DRS zone for safety reasons, so it's now back to 3 DRS zone.

The DRS zone between turns 8-9 has been removed.

Max couldn't get a fast lap in. Few minutes to go in FP3 and Stroll crashed causing a red flag.

Session won't resume.
