This deserves the Dumbgeom and any future threads regarding these guys. Nothing good ever comes out of it.

Avoiding all the other flying shit.....

How do you actually stop these guys on the streets? You may get one or two, but that's nothing. Even of those two, if they do legally own it, it's pretty much moving violations, right?

If it is stolen, well, put them away.

But how do you stop 20-50-100+ riders on the streets at once. Saw one on the Turnpike in West Miami a few weeks back, police never would've been able to round up any of them unless they crashed running away.

Just don't know how to even stop them
Dave to answer your question: " How do you actually stop these guys on the streets? And thanks for your serious question.

In the effort to have a meaningful "solution" or potential solution, first let me say that a few years ago ,I was part of a group of representatives made up of City, State, Manufacturers, Retailers, AMA corporate, District officials, Safety organizations and philanthropists whom met to discuss the potential to provide riding areas for city enthusiast to get off the street. We had meetings in various locations over a years time. We took field trips with officials to see what the potential could be in their future. We had guest State representatives discuss blight areas that were recovered and prosperous today. The City passed a resolution to investigate alternatives and look at potential sites to create safe corridor access to parks etc. The reality, it never went anywhere. In my opinion there wasn't an articulate or committed individual to speak or drive the project to fruition. I believe only 20% max would use a facility, and that being a new generation. I'm mostly convinced the majority of the riders want to flagrantly create chaos.

That being said, I believe an outlet for city enthusiast could be productive. I'm not saying on taxpayers dime. There are Enterprise Opportunity Zones that could provide facilities for ATV's. Abandon warehouse obstacle courses, ATV drag strips both turf and asphalt, stunt course and associated areas. BMX, legitimate motocross tracks both beginner for youth and amateur. Involvement with Police Athletic League, repair shops, Rotary Club, Community Groups and school reward programs. Create competition. Create funding for business opportunities associated with the project. Provide involvement and in turn provide values.

I could not believe the amount of support and financials that were available for this effort. A private individual could only wish for this much support opening a track outside the city. They (city riders) couldn't come to the table. Perhaps things are changing and they can form a group to elect a real spokesperson to make the change. I like everyone here am passionate about our sport and know the value it provides both to the individual and family. I care about our sport and our reputation. When i grew up, anybody associate with a motorcycle was an outlaw a juvenile delinquent. The public doesn't see the amount of economic impact and family that are involved and I take every chance encounter to promote our sport. This is a nationwide issue. I believe there could be a solution to reduce this behavior but something has to change. I really believe Travis Pastrana missed the opportunity to address the issue on Extreme Talent. See my response above.

In the mean time:

1. Allow the police to enforce the law.
2. Provide facilities (private over public funded).
3. Set up community meetings for rider input to identify their issues.
4. Organize them through sign up to legitimize the sport safely.
5. Out smart them w/ social media and false pretense to gather and enforce the law.

P.S. I do understand the outrage and it is not a racial issue...I've seen all ethnicity's involved.

Manny,

I agree. It ain't moto. It can go to non-moto but the reality we are associated with it in the public eye which in the long run doesn't serve us well. I kind of felt the same way when freestyle came about. It's not motocross either.

Most of the times in these threads, YOU are the ONLY one who tries to make it racist. It's fucking sad actually.

Cue the defenders of this behavior and why we shouldn't "assume" the bikes are stolen and they are criminals.

We shouldn't assume things about people because it often leads to incorrect conclusions.

You don't want people assuming things about you, based on their prejudices, so, AS HARD AS IT IS, everyone needs to put aside their assumptions and wait until facts come out. And everyone needs to accept facts that aren't comfortable and convenient, too. Again, that's hard, doesn't feel good.

Oh, and don't confuse 'understanding causes' with 'defending' or 'accepting'. They're completely different. And, as mentioned, it's often hard to accept causes when all you want is to condemn.

A good rule: focus on making yourself a great person. Help others in need. Don't focus on 'others' that have no affect on you.
Ya, that's all warm and fuzzy but that IS NOT the real world!

You must be so proud! Not only did you need dogs but you also needed a gun. Like winning a beginner race and coming to vital to brag about. Did you at least eat it?

Over time humans evolved big brains, animals evolved speed, strength, sense of smell, eyesight, claws, teeth, camouflage….it is humans brains that have allowed us to create things (in this case guns and the smarts to train/breed dogs to work for us) that got us to the top of the food chain.

I’ll gladly hunt a cat like that without the use of my brain (the things humans brains have created), if that cat can’t use the speed, strength, claws, teeth, sense of smell, camouflage (the things it evolved through time to get to the top of its food chain).

But it makes no sense to expect humans to not use the tools nature gave us, without also asking the animal to not use the things nature gave them.

Nature is cruel, and survival of the fittest. Maybe we have an edge, with our brains, over that cat….but that cat has an unfair advantage over the rabbits, or deer it kills. We are part of nature…nature is cruel…

Pretty much…if I don’t use my brain, and allow myself into a situation where someone wants to/can kill me, then yeah…it’s all part of nature. BUT….Fortunately, one benefit of a bigger brain is that we learned how to be civilized with one another, so that is far less likely to happen as our brains allow us to implement societal rules/punishments to discourage such behavior.

There are places in the world where humans are still government by survival of the fittest. Humans aren’t always exempt from the laws of nature just because we are the top of the food chain.
