First round of the World Surf League starts now at Pipeline if anyone is interested. Big beautiful waves at the famous Bonzai Pipeline. Live on youtube. I wish moto would do that because the surf coverage is always great.

Kind of off topic but, this reminded me of something I've been trying to remember for a long time...

Was it Derek (RIP) or Micheal Ho that rode a wave all the way to the shore break in a Pipe comp, and broke their leg? Pretty sure Bruce Irons replicated it (minus the broken leg)?

I forget which Ho broke his leg but i think it was Derek while in contention to be the first Hawian World champ or on his way to repeat. Finals day could be tomorrow if the swell holds.

That would be it! Thought I was losing my marbles. I remember there was footage (I wanted to show my nephew) but haven't been able to find it? And it was Andy Irons (RIP) that replicated it, not Bruce.

Speaking of Derek and Michael Ho. Have you seen how hard Michael Ho's kids rip? Cocoa and Mason Ho. Just so talented. Mason's videos are great and fast paced and there is always good jams too.
