Cut the tail pipe in half, louder but revs quicker. Stroke it, work on the suspension.

I'm working on one right now for a guy. It chewed up a left side crank bearing and cylinder.

Here's an article that details some stuff done to my 01'. Maybe some of it will help.

You dick. I just went and dug that link up too! Wink

That is a good article. I had a '98 CR125 and I had Eric Gorr go thru it and put a bills pipe and silencer on it and it was still slow. Sounded bad ass though! I kept that thing for probably 2 months and got rid of it.

It was easy to remember since it was my bike the article was about. I'm convinced the aluminum frame killed the 125 for Honda.

Put a 4 stoke 250f in it and get a cordless phone and microwave while you're at it.

Smile I kid best of luck in your endeavors!

Is there a picture of the air box with the holes drilled in it? Have an 02 with most of these mods but no holes in the air box. Always thought that trick doesn't really work. Cool article love how they comment on the 125 sound. Its my favorite especially with a fast rider.

Sure it works, it just becomes a question of what conditions you ride in. I'm in San Antonio and it rarely rains so that's not an issue. I haven't taken any pictures of it since I drilled the holes. Those air boxes are all over ebay if you want to experiment. The 05 and later air boot helps.

So do I drill 2 - 1/2" holes on each side or do I drill 6- 1/2" holes on each side? I have a tendency to go over board. Thanks

The side of my air box looks like it was shot with a shotgun. Holes are everywhere. Expect to rejet.

i had Eric Gorr bore my 05 to a 139. for the money, i couldnt ask for a better bike.

question for the gurus though: would head work be something i should look into even with the cylinder boring? or would that defeat the purpose? is it usually one or the other, or can both processes be done? for example, shaving the head and porting and polishing, along with boring the cylinder?

Yes, you will most likely notice some gains with proper head milling. You'll also be stuck with running race gas if that's a problem.

My new ride! 2004 Honda CR 125. The seller rode it a few times. Love the small bores.

Sweet bike! Got my youngest son a lightly used KTM144. Talk about a pumped up on steroids 125. It's more fun than should be legal. Keeping my eye out for a lightly used 07 CR125 to trick out for myself. My oldest son is working on a KX125 big bore/stroker in a KX250F chassis. Well , dragging his feet on that project I should say........... It does put the fun back in moto.

That bike looks really fun. I miss riding 125s and seeing all of my friends on them at the track.

Let me know if you need some CR125 parts..........the piston kits & extra rings are 139cc but the cylinder is stock bore.
