Hey guys, I recently purchased a 250 XC and I am interested to hear from anyone who has experience with them. Any advice on what I should keep an eye on would be greatly appreciated. Also I am new here and posted this in Off-road as well, if double posting is frowned upon please let me know.
Thank you in advance for any input.

Nice bike! Was about to say: get rid of the Mikuni… but it’s TPI right?

I have the tx300i which is basically the same bike. Not sure on the 250 how it pulls on the top end but the 300 falls on it's face a bit so you need to back out the power valve a bit. I had good gains from a fatty pipe as well. Really just fill it with gas and oil and let it rip, and make sure it has the latest map in it as it helps with the idle. I'd assume being a 22 it already has it, mine is a 20 and I've had a couple map updates. Now I'm just waiting to see if the 23 is a new bike so I can get a fresh one.

Thanks Spooner! I’m looking forward to spring and seeing how the 2 stroke is on the single track. Haven’t had one in about 20 years now so we will see if I remember how to ride them.

I have a 22 ex 300. Agree with the above post on backing out power valve adjustment. Gives it more hit. But surprisingly doesn't adversely affect low-end smoothness. Im 170 lbs without gear. Im running 125lbs in the fork for slow nasty stuff. For moto 140lbs.

I know alot of guys are getting well over 100 hours on the top end. But if your rip any moto expect to cut that time in half. At 57 hours mines due.

They are amazing on the trail. The motor is almost electric like and it feels like you have a direct connection from your brain to the throttle. The ability to quickly and easily loft the front wheel over obstacles is amazing. I've let several buddies swap rides with me and they all can't get over how easy it is to ride. My only real complaint is that it doesn't pull well on top, its more like a diesel and wants to stay lower in the revs than a typical two stroke. Hoping the new TBI setup coming will have the amazing low end but also a big top end as well.

I will have to look into the FMF for it, as with many things right now it is probably a couple months out.

They are in stock at parts unlimited (I'm a rep haha!)

And I just did a top end at 81 hours and it looked great. Also I forget where I saw the test but the bel-ray Si-7 injector oil tested the best. It's all I've ran since whatever was in it from the factory and the motor looked amazing inside. Whatever you do, don't run normal pre-mix oil in it. Way too thick for the injector setup.

I bought a 2022 KTM 250 XC last June. Have 50 ish hours on it now. I did the TSP re-map and medium comp head before I ever rode it. I love it but since I didn't ride it stock I don't know how it compares. It is snappy though and seems to rev out good. I set the power valve preload spring 1 turn in from flush per what I've read from others.

I noticed a tiny bit of off-idle hesitation after having it for awhile. I swapped the reeds for VForce 4 and the throttle response is much improved, highly recommend doing this.

I lost a couple of spokes during an enduro race (checked and tightened both wheels just prior to the start). During this race the bike also had a fuel pump issue. With nearly 3" of fuel showing in the tank it would not run. Add some fuel and it works fine. I've looked at it over and over and can't figure out how this is even possible. I changed the fuel pump and in tank filter with the kit from bestdualsportbikes and no longer have the issue.

One other note- I rode this bike in a hard enduro in Tillamook state forest where it was super muddy and raining the whole time, and that stock seat was like an icicle in those conditions. I've since switched it out for the sella delle valle gripper seat.

You guys have been awesome! Thanks so much for the insight. Looking forward to ripping some trails when the snow melts, thanks again.
