Deegan says he is turning pro supercross 2023 in new video.

Confirmation

Deegan confirms in new video the goal is to turn pro at A1 next year. It’s at the end of the video. That will put deegan turning pro at 16(days away from 17)or 17 depending on the day of the race. Glad they are moving him up a little earlier than the initial plan.

“I plan on putting down the hammer at A1 next year”, sounds good to me. It’s pretty cool to see Brian Deegan come full circle, leaving with middle fingers up and coming back with a prodigy son

I always thought it was kind of weird that he signed a two year amateur deal and then a two year pro deal. I guess they gave him the option, so now it’s 1 year amateur and 3 pro? Wow

I haven't had the chance to watch the video yet, but did he say anything about dipping his toes in the water at the Nationals after Loretta's this summer?

If true I feel like there's been some mismanagement in his program.
If your planing on racing A1 next year. You should be racing sx futures this year.
And to come to this decision before the 1st futures regional but after qualifiers is poor management.
I wonder if he could request an entry to a round missing a qualifier

Covid kinda fucked up their plans im pretty sure Brian wanted him to do a season in Europe, as a fan it's great to see him next year but I just hope he doesnt get hurt since hes super young.

Anyway I can't wait for the next crop of riders from this age group there's going to be some really good guys coming up.

Not really following everything they do, but I saw some footage of him already riding with Tomac and Ferrandis, that really has to be dope. His progress has to be tremendous while riding with the best of the business.

I didn't expect him to progress as quickly as he has on the 250F.
I told my friends a month ago, that I expected he would turn pro in 2023, and line up for A1.
If he continues to progress as he has, I can't imagine how he could wait another year.
I think it's a good call, and making the decision now allows him to train for it.

It’s ultimately their decision and safe to say they know what they are doing. If it were me, I’d wait one more year to let the body mature and get stronger. One minor injury can undo all the progress that was made up to this point.
What’s the rush?

100% agree if he plans to go pro in 2023 he needs to run A class all this year.

Next, from Star's standpoint this does not make a ton of sense. Romano and Leblanc will be going pro in 2023 so in theory they would have Colt, Cooper, Thrasher, Kitchen, Romano, Leblanc, Deegan. With Craig going to 450 and Martin off the team. If they went this route they would not have any AM talent left and they would need to carry 7 riders or my guess would be to let Leblanc go.

He has access to SX tracks, I'm sure he'll be fine or they would wait

No, the focus is on SX not MX...We have all these Euros complaining that US riders take too long to go pro and now they want a kid that has a path to pro SX drop down to a 125 and race EMX125

Thinking this through this may not be the worst idea ever. This would be the same thing Vohland did with KTM. If he goes pro next year it would leave him with 3 years in the pros on his current deal. It usually takes a year or 2 to get up to speed and then would leave him with 1 year to do well and earn a new contract. Also to add we know how sudden injuries happen and if that would happen and he missed a SX or MX season he would still have time to earn a new contract.

Colt and Cooper are out of the 250’s in 23…

He will probably run B class at lorettas then hit the AM nationals at the end of the year in the pro class. He will get his supercross license at Mini-o's.

If the both miss the whole SX season (Which at this point looks that way) wont they have another year? Or do you mean their Star contracts are up?

Would be cool to see him do a emx250 race this year.

They will both be pointed out of 250 SX, they actually did last year but the rule states that they can defend their title in the next season, there is no injury provision.

Is he racing B at Loretta’s in 2022? If so, why? I have not followed his story closely.

A class B class, who gives a shit. Guys move to pro from both classes. And these guys race so little as amateurs. Doing 6 races in a class vs b class isn’t going to make much difference. It’s s everything else that matters

Unless something changes, there are so Supercross points at Mini Os 2022. The only way to get points currently is through the SX Futures program.
