Xcountry supposed to be 4.5-5 miles long with no sand ( how is that possible?) and the Moto track was designed and laid out by Trampas Parker. Its been described as a grass track ,but we'll see. Just wish I was driving the 14 hours with my bikes in the back , too !!

Got back from the Inaugural AHRMA Moto-Fest National in Daytona .. Was a resounding badass event !! X-Country was fanatstic and the Moto track was designed and built by former World Champ and AMA Hall of Famer Trampas Parker. Track was OUTSTANDING. Super fun, safe jumps and provided really, really good racing. Average lap times were 2:15 ish . no dust, perfect traction.

Friday was Vintage X Country in the morning and PostVintage in the afternoon
Saturday was all Vintage Moto
Sunday was all Post Vintage Moto
Of all the racing on the 3 days ,I only witnessed a handful of minor crashes ,so the Ambulance never moved and Medics had a snooze fest.

Trampas and fellow Hall of Famer Terry Cunningham had great battles along with a bunch of other fast dudes .

Trampas is super humble and just an overall great guy, treated my wife and daughter like family.

Met fellow Vital member Albert Newman (Joe's brother) and Al was as nice a guy that I've met in a long long time. Obviously still in shock over Joe's passing. It was emotional to hear his stories .

Met Diamond Don -- another helluva nice guy and still rides very well too !!!

Since I haven't been cut loose from the surgeon and was still just watching, at least it was made sweeter by watching my daughter go 6 for 6 in her Womens Expert classes. Highlight was her 5th overall ( out of 45) in the Post Vintage X-Country and getting second on her gate against 15 guys in Post Vintage Moto (taking the winner into the last turn before coming up just short) . She's starting to turn a lot of heads in the Vintage scene-- who coulda figured ???

They are already planning on next years event-- try to make it if you can

She ran a 74 Mx175 in Vint X Country, a 91 XR200R in PV X Country, a 74 Noguchi/YZ in the Vint Moto and her "Red Rocket" 82 XR200R in PV Moto. She wanted to run # 996 ( my old AMA Amateur number) when she decided to start racing a year or so ago.
Her and my wife probably laughing about my mid-winter white legs before heading to the gate

Leading a big-bore Husky in PV Moto

on the 74 175 in Vint XCountry

On the line of the PV X Country on her 91 XR200-- went on to finish 5th overall against 47 entries --Trampas Parker won and I believe Terry Cunningham was 2nd (with bike issues I think )

That is cool.
Thanks-- the entire event was a blast. Im thinking within a few years it could rival MidOhio VMD in popularity

Having it mid-winter has its plusses and minuses though. Most of us Northern guys take the winter to tear down and rebuild before the Spring racing season ---I had to really hustle to put a few of hers back together to be race-ready. And the weather obviously has an affect on entries. For instance had this storm hit a couple of weeks ago, I'm sure the turnout would have been for shit.

The upside was that it certainly was nice to enjoy 75* weather with cloudless skies and zero humidity !! lol

It was a great event. That nice smooth looking grass track on Sat was rough on Sunday. I also realized that after years of not riding on the sand I suck in it- go figure 🧐. I’m the guy on the Husky 390 in that pic. You’re daughter rips BTW.. My bike started popping out of third gear in practice and got steadily worse every lap. Nursed it as long as I could but it gave up the ghost and refused to shift out of 2nd so I called it a day. I wish I knew you were there I would have come over an said hello. Are you planning on Diamond Dons?

Thanks ,lol. Yeah Diamond Don gave my daughter a personal Invite to come to his place , But yes , we plan on hitting as many of the AHRMA Nats east of the Mississippi as possible. She's chasing National points, while her husband (my son-in-law)and I are going to concentrate on the Mid-Atlantic Regional titles,

And thanks for the props-- she does go pretty good . Being she just started racing the summer of 2019 and she's no kid at 32 yo, she's surprising a lot of people. I'm super proud and she's fun to watch.

And you are 100% correct, what started as a super smooth wide open track, became pretty damn rough as the grass went away and the sand took over ,lol.

But there were a bunch of fast guys there and you could hear a lot hootin' and laughing all the way around the track

Yeah, you should have come and said Hi. I had a pretty relaxing three days . Knock on wood , we had ZERO mechanicals all weekend. Doesn't happen often with those 40 year old bikes !!!
