So my Dentist office changed owners which I did not realize and about 5 months ago a new (rotating) dentist installed two crowns on my top two rt rear molars. So a few months go by and I have a cleaning done and a different dentist has a look see and says “THOSE CROWNS ARE INSTALLED WRONG, THEY NEED TO BE RE-DONE!” I guess the crowns did not go all the way up to the gum line.
So havta go back for more grinding to remove and install temp crowns (while he was doing this he was giving the assistant a hard time—Julia I can’t believe you didn’t say anything and the poor girl didn’t know what to say), wait a few weeks to get the permanent crowns installed and when he removed the temp crowns with more grinding I hear the dreaded “Oh I was afraid of that!”
Now that’s the LAST THING I WANT TO HEAR FROM SOMEONE GRINDING ON YOUR TEETH!
Turns out I either needed a root canal or EXTRACTION! This is on the last upper molar.
Years ago I had a SIDEWAYS IMPACTED wisdom tooth removed on the bottom so he said with that removed it shouldn’t be a problem. I had a few minutes to decide as it was past closing time and he needed to be somewhere! My Gawd!
So he numbs me up some more for the EXTRACTION and that was a weird and unpleasant experience as he’s yanking on it BACK & FORTH to remove!
A few days later I notice I’m coughing up yellow nasty Flem and I ALSO have an awful smell when I breathe! I call him up and he prescribes Amoxicillin. About three days of that it does nothing, call him back he prescribes a stronger anti-biotic Amox/Clav 500—no improvement.
He referred me to an Oral Surgeon, turns out my Insurance does not cover that so I find my own which happens to be the same guy who removed my IMPACTED/SIDEWAYS wisdom tooth and is a good Dr.
He does a 360 X-ray of my head and discovers my RT SINUS is clogged and INFECTED BAD! He prescribes some more meds and it seemed to clear up. Had 2 weeks off during the Holiday but couldn’t do much than one night I started coughing and in the morning it got WORSE! I was worried I had COVID (I can’t give it to Jan with her situation) so I went to Urgent Care and it was negative, but upon further examination by a Dr (I really liked) he took a Lung X-ray as I told him I had Valley Fever/Pneumonia a few years back (remember Georgie, you gave me some good advise). He said it was a good thing I came in as he said I was real close to getting Pneumonia again but had a bad case of Bronchitis.
More meds, Z-pak of STEROIDS, anti-biotic, strong cough syrup and an inhaler.
That seemed to help that but the BAD TASTE and Yellow Flem is back!
Went back to the ORAL surgeon for a recheck and another X-ray and sure enough the Infection was still there. He said I need to see an ENT and I have had plenty of Meds.
Saw the ENT today and he said I must have a small hole from when the tooth was EXTRACTED and is allowing bacteria from my mouth into my sinus. He ordered a CT Scan and currently waiting to see when I can have one in the next few days then hopefully get a recheck with him. While he was talking to me he also mentioned this is a dental issue and I should go back to the Oral Surgeon but that guy seemed like he was DONE with me…
All I know is having an INFECTION for over SIX WEEKS really SUX!
Has anyone gone through anything like this?
This what I have and my X-ray looks exactly like that:

Had to have temporary crowns for a few weeks and that sucked.
My wife had a root canal done. Then a crown put on. Over the next few years there must have been a small leak. One week before Christmas her tooth started hurting bad. They took crown off and it was infected. Nothing to really do but have it extracted. Really bad experience for her. She had to take a bunch of meds before the extraction to try and prevent the infection from moving to the jaw, etc.
The Shop
Luxon 4-Post Bar Mounts
$189.95 - $239.95
DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
If thAT don’t shake it you might wanna look at iv infusions with ID.
You got a source of infection you aren’t clearing.
As always this isn’t medical
Advice. 😉

Yep I had terrible luck with the temporary crowns they kept falling off had to go back multiple times finally they just glued them on with permanent cement and then they had to grind them off which made the situation worse imo.
If they would have just installed the original crowns correctly I wouldn't be in this situation. Thing is they were not bothering me.
What happened to your wife with the root canal is what I was worried about and I only had a few minutes to think about--root canal or extraction. I figured extraction so I would not have problems down the road well it turned out to be the wrong decision how was I to know?
I hate the freaking Dentist!
Well this guy (office) turned out to be worse.
Which tooth was extracted?
It was such a weird experience to have this dude with these extended plier type tools yanking back-and-forth on my tooth in the back of my mouth and I really wasn't feeling any pain because I was so NUMBED UP, took about 5 minutes of this weird torture. Oh and rear molars are attached in all Four corners to bone! 😲
And I guess he did not get all the bone because when I went back I told him I could feel something in my gum rubbing my cheek.
So he goes in there and digs out a little speck of bone and said that's what I was feeling.
I have got dentures pretty well sorted out, but I still can't "bite tear" tape. I can however bite the shit outta my tongue.
X2 on feeling ripped off by them. Before my Dentist retired I was using the barter system with him. I'd service his pool for a year or more and get a bunch of credit. And then he'd work on me for 2 hours and we'd be even.
Of coarse the new dentist retired and now some beginner hacks took over.
Hope you get to feeling better soon.
Cavities. I’m like what ? I’ve never had a cavity in my life.
Went on active duty. Dentist said no cavities. Me huh ? I thought I had 9. He goes no. You got some deep fissures in 2 but they’re not ready. Should be good
For a few years. I can do a little bit of work if you want and probably can stretch that to 10-15 years.
Me. Ok. So two teeth got a little bit of work on. Didn’t hurt at all. Even when he hit me with nova some. Not even a pinch. The guy was amazing. And the army gets a bad wrap for docs and dentists but I never had a bad experience with them….
