AX Suspension

For local arenacross on stock suspension turn compression almost all the way in and turn rebound in same ratio? Decent Vet rider/B rider. Done lots of arenacrosses, but just want to keep it from blowing thru if I make a mistake.

If you've done lots of AX then what have you done in the past? Most AX tracks I've raced have been pretty tame and I've left my suspension in the same configuration as I use outdoors. Also, I wouldn't just arbitrarily start turning clickers all the way in one direction or the other.

I've left it stock always, but every year tell myself I'm going to buy AX suspension...then reality sets in and $ lol. Just thought something I could change with the stock to improve results and comfort.

You def need springs. I have a 6'1" 185lb pro mx rider on .48s and 5.6. That's outdoor setup with valving. You should at min spring that bike. Stock is like .44/4.9.

I disagree I’m 200lbs on the 2021 yz 250.. and I can mx/Ax/ramp on my stock suspension and not blow through it. Also I’m a vet B rider.. just make lil adjustments don’t go way extreme one way or the other as stated above.. and rebound is very rider preference.. I like my rebound slow, so it doesn’t give me any crazy kick backs or wild deflections. Almost to the verge of packing.. But I’m super impressed with the suspension and usually I race tech all my bikes

Depending on your preference, but our sag numbers are right on, and I've ran the 46mm shocks on dynos, and ran pressure test/telemetry setups on them. We are aggressive, but so are the riders. The '22 yz has the leaf style mid, and 497mm springs. Those forks are stiffer than prior units.

dont most sx/ax guys tune the suspension for the whoops?

from what i remember about setting up suspension on a bike you more or less would make compromises for the track/conditions
