Hi there I’m new to forum. Thanks for letting me join

I have in my possession a 1990 complete (barley running but runs none the less) 100% original ((so I’m told) she’s in rough shape, kick mechanism is stripped to all hell…. Seems to only have one tooth left as it takes great care and pressure @ certain angles to get it to catch once per revolution. Compression seems good as when I did get it going (took about an hour) if fired up and had decent power clutch was grabbing and slipping like crazy so I only rode it enough to make sure all gears were working, and I think head gasket is toast cause that little ride built up allot of pressure in the cooling system which eventually pushed coolant out from around the head bolts …not much but enough cause a small puddle on the floor the next day.

And a

1993 kx 250 not sure how much of it is original, the left side case has a jb welded section so I’d be replacing/repairing that for sure. I already have a newly plated cylinder and a piston/gaskets carb kit cables and a few other odd and ends for it.

My questions is 1 which one would you throw your $$ @ and why?

2. The new parts I have can they go onto the 1990 ?

1 of these bikes is getting a full ground up restoration and I can’t decide which one I want to do.🤔

Both!! I would see if one or the other is hard to find parts for. have a 93 KX250 that's waiting to get restored after i finish my two 95 CR250's and my 93 YZ250. Either way it'll be a fun experience. .

If you do a proper restore on either one, you will lose $…. If you do it for the enjoyment of restoring a certain bike, you will enjoy it. I had a 90 when they were brand new, so I found one & only had to perform a light cosmetic restore. I like looking at it👍

Hell yeah! That's a great model, and I really like that you're 'looking at it'. I love riding my modern bike and looking at these old bikes too.

Surprised the '90 has original swingarm decals and seat cover. Maybe it won't be as bad as you think?? Good luck and post pictures!

Haha ya your prob right… this is my problem though, I’m addicted to breathing life back into old machines that all others have thrown the towel on. So far 01 250f 02426f and a 81 PW 50
