But great post to drag out a 2 week old thread 😂
Yes, we take a hard stance against Covid. However it does come with a big positive. We have had 1,256 covid deaths. Which is one of the lowest rates per capita in the world.
Once again, it is only 2 cities currently in lockdown, both of which are starting to lift restrictions this week, with almost all gone in 4 more weeks when we are forecast to hit our vaccination targets.
Here is a photo taken on Saturday at our football grand final (basically our super bowl) played in front of 60k fans, basically none of which are wearing masks.
So once again there is a little more to it than what a few media organizations choose to portray.
I am not here to argue how any country should or should not deal with covid, we have seen how that ends. And frankly if anyone thinks their country has done a perfect job, they are flat out wrong.
And I am not saying some in Australia don’t disagree with our current strategy
However I would just like to point out that living in Australia today is not like what some media organizations portray in 20 second news clips, and it is absolutely nothing like what some members here seem to think it is.
P.s overcooking chicken should be a jailable offense….nothing worse than dry chicken 😆

Australia is still great and will be getting even better in a couple more weeks when we're allowed to open everything back up again.
Don't listen to everything you hear on the news, our recent protests were a few thousand whack jobs internet researchers and professional troublemakers posing as out of work tradesmen pushing an agenda and using it as an excuse to fight the police. The vast majority of Australia has supported the governments policy on Covid thus far. We hate the lockdowns but we are proud of the low mortality rate we've achieved and understand that one causes the other.
When the world opens again i hope everyone takes the opportunity to come and visit, im sure all you cunts will love it.
I have a co-worker who wasn’t allowed to come back into Australia for two weeks after a business trip to New Zealand- that’s not right..
I think the US covid death rate is more indicative of our general unhealthy obese population more so than anything. Also, comparing states that locked down versus those who didn’t- lockdowns don’t work.
Anyways, we have relatives in Australia (my wife’s uncle and cousins) so hope to visit soon!
luckily we have Brad from Vital telling us how bad it really is here. Thanks for letting us know.
Anyway, now i have to go and be sad/angry.
Delta has made them much less effective, and once again, outside of Sydney and Melbourne, most Australians have had basically zero restrictions since April 2020
Yes they are strict, there is no doubting that. but its not all doom and gloom, there are pros and cons to everything, every country has had challenges. that includes the US, Australia and everywhere in between
I would say we are not ok with giving up our freedoms per se, but we are ok with making sacrifices in order to protect those vulnerable, and also those in the rest of the country who are not locked down.
One thing i do absolutely agree with you on is the difficulty for some people returning from overseas, I agree that this is not acceptable.
But thanks for your concerns, I assure you Australia is still a pretty great place, the economy is doing well all things considered, unemployment is relatively low, in another month most restrictions should be lifted.
Life is good
When you do visit your relatives, I am sure you will be welcomed with a cold beer and friendly people.
Have a good evening
Most of my MX friends are anti-vax (Covid wise), anti lockdown and ticked off with the situation. We all think the government has gone too far with their rules and restrictions.
Most of us are just working through it. None of us own semi-automatic weapons but we own knives and cars and bats and tractors and other items that could be used as weapons.
No-one I know would suggest that it would be smart to try to regain our lost freedoms with any violence against police or anyone else.
No-one I know is that dumb.
Some of us have lost chances to race in the last 2 years, some in lesser affected states have had more chances to hit the dirt. I took my YXZ out on Monday. No army or police to be seen. I did carry a travel permit though, which is weird but a good source of jokes about Ze Germans and whatnot.
There are some who have had their businesses decimated despite government assistance. Everyone will carry a tax burden into the future and pass it on to the next generation. It's all a bit strange.
The battles now are the proposed vaccine passports/restrictions. This will be a huge divide until someone gets their shit sorted.
You must not know any of these people.

Then there are people like the Florida Governor that are suggesting that we are “worse than China” and the US should cut all diplomatic ties with Australia.
Despite us just signing a pact that ties us closer than ever, you guys just signed up to share your nuclear submarine technology with us. Only the second country since Britain some 60 years ago.
It’s ridiculous to suggest cutting off a long time ally, an ally that has stood side by side with the US in more wars than any other nation just because of a different Covid strategy.
He also blatantly lies when he implies that we are under martial law.
Does anybody here actually think we should cut diplomatic ties?
Pit Row
Well we don’t drink it, so if we don’t send it to the US, it will only be made to sell to the Poms 😆
As far as the delays getting into the country that's nothing new since Covid has started, and probably the number one reason our cases have remained comparably low to the rest of the world. There is a cap on passenger numbers entering the country, mainly to ensure we don't overwhelm hotel quarantine. It's the way it is and anyone who has left the country in the last year was aware this was the case prior to leaving. It does suck and i do sympathize with anyone stuck but that's the game they agreed to play.
Things are looking up, Australia will overtake the US in terms of percentage of the population vaccinated by the end of the week, and normal will slowly start to return the end of next week. School kids back to class, community sport back on and most importantly pubs back open. I'm double dosed and have my schooner licence ready for freedom day, no guns or storming the capital required, and personally im proud of that.
I like the guy, from what I know about him. As an Australian, to be called out by the guy is disappointing. The fact he is exaggerating how things are here and the fact that he is not entirely wrong.
However, we don't judge America by some media commentary about your Jan 6 thing or by a guy being kneeled on. We saw what we saw and can make appropriate distinctions. You cannot make commentary on a whole country by just some part of the entire setup. He's wrong about military enforcement. 100% wrong.
Interestingly, The population of Florida and Australia is about the same. Only just over 1,250 Australians have died from COVID, compared to more than 54,000 Floridians. Florida averages 350 deaths per day in a state of 22 million people.
I'm sure we both use some spurious data to amass those numbers, but wow!! Maybe we have got it right!!??
So what's going to happen with y'all in the near future? The SX calendar and the destinations hosting that series will see a prolonged and divisive debates about vaccine mandates and passports.
I'm thinking sadly, Australia is just a few weeks ahead of you guys with the rules and restrictions. We are all the same though. We want to do what we can to get beyond Covid. Just some of us want to have a battle (Keyboard or otherwise) whenever a chance to fight comes up.
What a pain in the arse. *
( *US: Pain in the ass)
But remember, this guy is posturing for a possible higher office run and the best way to do that is to invent an ‘enemy’ for people and then swear to defend the masses from the evils of that ‘enemy’…….
It’s theater, but with consequences.
In a world that is deeply divided we should all be bringing allies closer, not trying to drive them away
Going off this video, he appears to be one of the only politicians worldwide that has some balls to speak up and fight back, interesting that Gladys Berejiklian steps down over previous corruption from years ago,, same time Clive is accusing her of taking money from Pfizer (10 min in) to push the vaccine.

One of our former NSW Premiers resigned over an undeclared bottle of wine gifted to him. I have a hard time believing that was the only thing.
My two cents. Yep, it sucks at the moment with limitations in place. Can't visit my parents or my wife can't visit her mum and they are vulnerable as they are in their 70s and 80's. I am self-employed and getting people to work is nearly impossible because the government is handing out more than what they are worth. When the handouts stop I will take great pleasure in telling some of my previous staff that their position is no longer available.
I am double vaxxed, just don't like the government telling me that medical choice is not mine. I think this will settle down though as there is a lot of push back over the vaccine mandate. I think this discussion will continue and will be less polarising once businesses and governments realise that there are not enough people to fill jobs.
The rubbish that you see on the American media is about as far from reality as it gets. There are certainly some here who feel that they have lost everything and no longer have anything left to lose so go and protest. I support them wholeheartedly. Unfortunately, most of the protests get hijacked by professional agitators and the true meaning of the protest is lost.
Australia is still a great place to live. My brother and his family have spent the past 12 months caravaning around OZ, yesterday he was at Cape York. Just have to pick your battles.
