A gate not falling properly, a rider shouldn't be punished for that. And of course, if live TV was an issue and the schedule was tight, how much time would it have costs to bring the 250's back and line them up again? Seems funny to me.

So what if the dirt behind the gate was lower than the metal structure that holds the gate itself? The gate would slam metal on metal and bounce a little due to the energy and weight of the falling gate, which is longer than the width and overlaps the case structure that holds the whole deal. The gates usually fall into dirt -- look for the imprint in the ground next time a gate goes up in front of you -- but if too much was cleared away behind it, either by a course worker or tractor or mechanic or the guy who lined up there in the previous moto, the gate could bounce when it clanks down and hits metal rather than dirt....
I can't come up with any other reason why two gates together would bounce, except that too much dirt was cleared away behind it, and could have caused it to recoil the way it did. I imagine if you dropped an aluminum baseball bat on another aluminum bat it would bounce too.
In the end, the gate fell properly; it was whatever it hit to bounce back up was the problem -- not live TV, and not because Christophe is French (remember, my all-time favorite rider is J.M.B.) or any other off-the-wall conspiracy theories here. Trust me, we would be having this same conversation (and mystery) if it was Barcia who got hung up going over the gate and not Christophe.
Sorry, that's all I got. Off to Red Bud.

OH, I see your from France. No wonder.
So, all you guys on here that have raced or currently do, all you guys that don't race but watch the races, how many other times have you seen this happen?
I got that too but only when the clip doesnt quite play from the start. When you see it complete it falls, then bounces up onto the wheel, back down onto the metal and then back up onto the sump. It seems pretty clear that there wasnt any dirt on the metal. Im not sure if thats the riders responsibility or not.
Apologies to Frenchy, THE mx addict.
It would be like putting a Monster sign on Larocco's Leap, so that nobody could clear it.

I just think its important that the gate is down when the riders/mechanics roll up to choose their gates... Then when they leave for the parade lap, it goes up and stays up till it drops for the start of the moto. This way the gate can be prepped and you can groom and so fourth with the gate down to see how she will end up after she falls. I'm not positive but I believe there's been things in the rule book to that effect..In years past I'd almost say 100% its been in there; that the staging-choosing-parade lap-start process should take place like that.
I know at Loretta's this is the process they follow very diligently but I think there's been some inconsistency in the process at the Pro Nationals; and I'm sure DC will be on top of it in the future.
What I am most impressed with, though, is that Pourcel was sort of expecting a red flag, but still managed to pass 22 guys on the first lap. That's the kind of drive that'll win you titles.
i hate that.
