Any trick to getting an RMZ seat back on??

Picked up a new 20 RMZ 250 last Friday, going to take it out this weekend. Wanted to see if the dealer oiled the air filter... (they did). I've never had a more difficult time getting a seat back into place in my life- it's got the usual tank tab that all bikes have, it's also got two plastic tabs in the middle of the seat that slide under metal tabs on the frame. I can't get the two line up- I can have the tank tab in place, or the seat tabs in place , not both. Being a new bike, I don't want to twist and force things if I don't have to. Figured I'd ask here before I break something. Thanks for any help!

Press down on the seat above (or just slightly forward of) the frame tabs while sliding it forward.

I should say I can get both tabs where they should be, but I've got about a quarter inch to go before the front part of the seat is flush with the tank, or lined up with the bolt holes at the rear.

I lightly pushed down on center of seat with one hand and pushed forward and down on the upward front section of the seat and never had an issue so I will assume something else is going on.
And honestly, I down remember where the tabs were when it was on

I have a 2020 450 and I put 40 hours on it with the seat tabs on top of the subframe tabs. I got to looking at it one day and noticed. When I install the seat I get all the tabs started and when I need to get that last 1/2 inch I pop the middle of seat with my hand a couple times.

That's exactly what I did... but something didn't look quite right, and I realized the seat wasn't completely flush with the side panels, which is when I discovered the mid-seat tabs. I actually considered doing what you mentioned, just pounding on the middle of the seat, but it doesn't look like they're designed to go in that way (not a lot of flex in those tabs). May try it any way, if they didn't snap after 40 hrs of riding... may be ok. Thanks for the tip.

This sounds similar to the setup on my MT09.
The standard seat is pretty easy to get on, but I purchased a "comfort" seat and that one needs pretty much all my body weight pushing down on it to flex the seat enough to align with the tabs.

It's crazy... 30+ years of removing and replacing seats on dirt bikes, this is the only one that's stumped me. I just went ahead bolted it back on with the seat tabs sitting on top of the tabs on the subframe. Probably swing by the dealer on my way to the track this weekend to see if they've got a solution.

Try it with the seat at about a 35 degree angle and push a little bit around mid seat. It’ll go right on. As long as those tabs are under the subframe tabs, push down on the back of the seat and the holes should line up perfect

When I say pop the seat with my hand. I hit the middle of the seat with a karate chop motion towards the gas tank. Like you say the tabs slide forward, so pushing down wouldn’t do much. So as a fellow RM army guy my advise is karate chop your seat and enjoy your badass zook.

Once I noticed I have been riding with the middle tabs unhooked I had the work to get the seat to fit correctly. I bent the tabs on subframe up just a little and took a file to the tabs on the seat base. Once I got it to fit right it goes on without a problem now. Just get everything started and hit the seat with a chopping motion towards gas tank, don’t have to hit it that hard.
