Laughed at "Now his competitors know if they can't beat him with raw speed, they can beat him by getting into his head." That kid is more head strong then a lot of the people on here give him credit for lol. Some people here would crack under a 1/4 of the pressure this kid deals with on a day to day basis. Now that "his competitors" know how to beat him, he can kiss his career goodbye lol. "Come on man" lol. Again, I could give two shits about this kid but come on. He was riding great. God forbid a 15 year kid makes a mistake riding faster than most of on here can go. And yes, I'm sure he's faster than most of us on here. Don't kid yourself lol.

If you read my post you will see I described his amazing ride like no one else on the track, but that was before Janik got in his head.

And yes he has the speed to beat everyone, that was clear. But if his competitors are smart, they will start playing head games with him to see if he cracks like he did today.
until the voice of reason stepped in (weigandt) and corrected everyone and said something went wrong and he was trying not to get landed on.....

I'm talking about the minute he started playing games and nearly stopped in the berm to F'ck with Janik...this is where Deegan cracked and was suckered into playing games. His mis-shift or whatever happened after he cracked and was probably a result of being flustered from playing games. Had he just made the pass and raced forward he wouldn't have been in that position and he would have finished 2nd.

Not trying to shoot the messenger buddy. I'm also not listening to the commentators, I'm at work lol. I think his emotions may have gotten the best of him. I wouldn't say they got in his head per se. I don't think he cracked, he just made a mistake in the heat of the moment. He's lucky he didn't get landed on. However, I see what you're saying.

I find it funny that Haiden accuses Evan Ferry of cherry-picking 125 class races when he himself is actually doing so on superminis. If I remember right, Haiden raced a 125 at Mini-O's and whined because the big boys bounced him around a little and apparently cut him off when he tried to get the holeshot. Look, I wish the kid the best, but I think he is in for a rude awakening once he hits big bikes. Right now he's a big fish in a small pond. The problem is most of the kids that Deegan races are all fans of his. Once he enters into the big bike classes with older kids who could care less about the Deegans, they are not going to roll over and play dead when challenged.

That's why i don't understand why people care so much about this. All these races mean next to nothing, especially for guys like Deegan that will get their fair shot at it as a pro from day 1 with good bikes. Things start to matter once you hit the pro level.

JT talks about this on his latest podcast where he compares the US amateur racing setup to the EMX setup, and how far off the US amateur races really is to actual pro racing.

It will be interesting to watch Deegan when he turns pro. What he does now as a 15 year old on a supermini with a taller seat on is not that interesting to be honest.

5 amateur races a year...that's because kids these days just want to bro-down at the compounds with their parents credit card all summer, they don't actually want to race. If they wanted to race, local gates wouldn't be empty. Compound life is hurting am motocross.

If you raced AMA district racing, you'd race 30 times a year. District 13 (mid Atlantic coast) races from late Feb to late October with a Nov banquet.

If you're only racing 2 LLQ, Loretta's, Mini O, Ponca and not racing locally/regionally every chance you get, you're just afraid of racing and only there for the social scene. They'll hide behind the guise of "this is the path to the top, racer x told me so".

I wouldn't say bro down but I do see what you're saying. Here in AZ, the weather is good most of the year. Racing is pretty much all year around with a few little breaks mixed in. Some races, it's packed and some races have me scratching my head. Everyone want to race in CA and they forget about the local races. I get the whole "there's faster" kids in CA. However, if your (not your) kid can't even beat everyone in the state, why travel to other states where they get their asses kicked, rather than supporting your local track. That being said, I can see why parents want to travel to tracks in CA. For me, it's just way too much money. My kid can race more locally than going out of state just for one race. Our local race tracks are 3-4 hours away for us. No sense going to CA (8 hours) to race on a Sunday and then turn around and drive home. People bitch about the local races yet don't support them. Makes no sense to me. I hear the argument of the track is "too easy" yet their kids don't do well on an "easy" track lol. My thoughts are, a gate drop is a gate drop. Yes, there are "harder" tracks but if you can't win on an "easy track," you will probably wont on a harder track. To each their own. Just my two cents.

Props to Janik on being able to throw a whip like that while racing at that level and on that brutal of a track, that's some talent in itself.

I know from experience the Supermini class is brutal, mostly between the parents/families. The stories I could tell you about the games other kids' dads would play would blow your mind. My dad always taught me to ignore the noise and kick their ass, best revenge you could ever get. These kids nowadays I think deal with even more pressure having social media be such a presence and big part of their whole program.

Lol, YouTube commenters are flocking to vital in droves.

I’m not a Haiden fan, but he had a great ride going before he missed a shift and threw it away. That was a fun race/ride to watch.

I don't have any biased towards any amateur, I just am not interested enough to follow them. With that being said, it looks like Deegan was riding like a dipshit when he crashed.

Yup,
My son is currently racing in 85's. We try to keep to ourselves. My kid goes to races to race. He also keeps to himself unless he's hanging out with his friends.

Best advice I can give you is figure out if your son wants to be serious and take a shot or just have fun going to weekend races. The mindset is totally different. We went all out and my career got cut short from injury but I don't regret it, I chose to take a shot. However, if I could go back I might just chose to be a weekend warrior and have more fun with it. Riding with my dad was much more fun than doing 30+ minute motos out at Hangtown / Marysville all day, training, dieting, homeschooling, etc. I loved to win but my best memories were just riding around with my dad having fun at the end of the day. You can try to keep to yourself but trust me, when you get into serious competition the trouble will find you.

This. I get going once to say you did it but if you aren't winning your local races by 45 seconds to a minute kinda waste of money (no I don't care how you spend your money and get living your dream). Same with local pros trying to race nationals, might as well light your cash on fire.

I know people back in the day that if their kids didn't win the regional they didn't go to loretta's.

Cochran got the hole shot and washed out in the 3rd or 4th turn. It was just a tip over and he got his bike running again almost in last place and that's the last we saw of him...DNF so either a bike problem or he's hurt.

Deegan got a bad start and was dicing his way through the field with an amazing ride. Threading the needle with crazy inside lines and wheelie'ing over sections like no other rider out there. He went from like 18th or so to 3rd and pulled up to Janik in 2nd place.

Deegan made a pass on Janik but a few turns later Janik passed him back. Then Janik threw this huge whip at Deegan and it apparently got in Deegan's head because the next turn Deegan went inside to outside and nearly came to a stop to F'ck with Janik. Deegan cut all the way across the track and started playing cat and mouse with Janik...then, over the big jump not sure what Deegan was doing but looked back for Janik and came up short...Janik landed on hime and Deegan yard sale'd. Janik luckily didn't go down and went on to finish 2nd.

Deegan would have finished 2nd place had he not lost focus by loosing his cool and playing stupid games. Deegan finished 39th instead of 2nd.

Here's where Janik had passed him back and threw a huge whip at him over this jump...note where Deegan is looking...
Now his competitors know if they can't beat him with raw speed, they can beat him by getting into his head.

guess you were in his head moto mind reader. pathetic.

The good race craft generation is starting to die off. It's all about insta bangers, doing hot laps and solo moto.

Looking at the results at Loretta Lynn’s, it looks like all the KTM/Husky/GASGAS lovers are winning races. It’s not hard to find them.

Kay DeWolf Is a month away from being 17,Deegan is still 15 . De wolf was was riding a 85 when 15 that year highlight was 2nd overall at the world 85cc championship for him
When 14 he rode EMX125 .. and he was leading his first race in front of 40.000 people in Valkenswaard. At 15 he rode EMX250 and qualified top 5 multiple times, some podium moto’s and raw speed. At 16 he won his first mx2 moto at the toughest track in the world.

Meanwhile, i’m not for hyping up Deegan all the time. But he has talent and support. I would prefer to bring him up more quietly but Brian has bigger plans then that. Everyone has his own story and this is the situation they have created. Personally i would have stepped up to 125’s already and be a lot less vocal. On the other hand, he does good things for the sport and probably will attract new riders with their YT channel. I’ve listened to some parts of his interview with Gypsytales and he sounds like a smart guy with great intelligence in business descisions

Hopefully he is okay and will win some moto’s. I love that the other riders aren’t giving up on themselves and battle him hard enough. These are probably our future pro’s in the USA so why not enjoy them battling and have some rivalries? Cool
