I'd seen the other thread with predictions of gloom and doom for the Southwick National. The latest info I've heard is that it WILL happen...just later in the season, scheduled between Loretta's and Unadilla.

Bonus tip...it may actually happen on a Sunday instead of a Saturday.

Road trip for Southwick AND Unadilla, anyone?

Good to hear it's not getting pulled. I feel for the kids moving up after Loretta's, though...as if Unadilla wasn't a tough enough track for a first pro race.

You mean the 2 races in the far NE corner of the US might be back to back? Wow who is the genius that figured that out.

Sunday nationals were a tradition for day drinking ...Saturday doesn't have the same vibe to it but I love the nationals more than sx so I'm just happy they're on the horizon!!

Wait....were going back to Loretta? Once or twice?

No. Scheduled on a weekend after Loretta Lynn’s amateur national and before Unadilla.

It's unfortunate, but it's also the only open date after the August 1 easing of outdoor mask mandates and expanded crowd limits, unless you prefer we run into late September and up against the Motocross of Nations is scheduled to take place in Italy.

Neither Unadilla nor Southwick happened last year, and this is the best we can do now given the health restrictions in both states. Remember, Loretta Lynn's and RedBud both ran back to back in 2020 just to ...

I'm happy for it to be happening! Hopefully will be going to both Southwick and Unadilla. Not too bad of trips from Central Maine.

Thanks DC

Sorry, I thought you were complaining about them being so close together on both the schedule and in distance. Nothing I can do about the long drive from Washougal, other than give everyone two weeks to get there...

We are still limited in how many people we can have in the pits, especially the early rounds, and of course by the hours in the day, so I don't think there will be many extracurricular activities on the race days.

DC, there isn’t an open weekend between LL last day and Unadilla. Are you talking about the Sunday after LL - the day after?

Well, CDC and Biden say no masks indoors or outdoors for people who are vaccinated. I wonder what this means for Southwick?

My guess is that they will go with the rescheduled date if they have the choice. Loosening the mask mandate is one thing. The other is allowing businesses to operate at 100% capacity which I believe would apply to professional sport events/venues. That goes into effect in MA on August 1st.

For sure can be a bit steamy in Texas. I'm assuming that's why Jacksonville was dropped this year Guy B ?

Let’s just hope that things continue to trend upwards and we are able to get back to normal racing. Hopefully we retain some of the folks that purchased bikes during the pandemic and they support the sport by going to events.
