Have been working on this machine for about a year in my spare time. Plan to have it running in just a few weeks, just waiting on a couple last pieces. Building it how i like it, but also trying to keep it somewhat old school/original.
I Have been the owner of this bike since roughly 1999, but it has been in pieces since 2005 or so. Can wait to rip it once again!!
Ive done everything myself with the exception of:
- Crank - crankworks, new rod, true, weld tin can
- Cylinder - cvtechAAB, sleeve cylinder std bore.
Good work done by both.
- Powder coat frame/subframe - couldnt fit in my oven. I realize color is far off, too bright/fluorescent, may have redone oneday later on.
Products i was impressed with:
- Venhill for front brake hose, good price, nice build, custom hoses, perfect fit.
- Vintage roost for seat cover, fit perfectly.
- Haan wheels sent me excels and spoke sets which laced up perfectly as well.
Many others were a make fit install, but decent, not many options
Hotfootmoto-chain guides etc
Plastics-maier
Rads-gpi
Rad louvers-made rm125 ones to fit. Originals are non existent.

Was going to run silica phosphate free stuff.
Not sure whats in this stuff but i do know water is what cools my engine, not coolant.
I understand it is less corrosive etc, but not convinced on their other claims.
Maybe i will run reg coolant and distilled water at first, check temp, then try it. Compare. Will see
At least you have been warned...
I wonder how many of these bikes ran with old school green phosphate/silica coolant mixes with hard tap water. I realize magnesium was a retarded idea but mine had/has minimal corrosion/damage, possible distilled water i always pit in it helped her out a bit.
Good job great job I should say. My exhaust system got stolen and I'm looking to bypass the atac system. Any ideas for me? Much obliged. Pro circuit exhaust used to make a system that I believe would work for me but they discontinued.
Thanks
dg pipes, it comes with adapter/block off exhaust flange which eliminates atac system. Looks like this
