I need to buy a C spanner for a 2019 SXF350 rear shock to adjust the preload, as the one my dad had for his '15 doesn't fit. I've found one on eBay which I think will fit but it states for bikes from '16-17. Can anyone confirm whether the tool will be the same from '16-19? The C spanner for the '15 was too small.

TIA

Can't you just loosen the bolt and move it with your hand?

Hammer and a drift. I use a 1/4 “ brass rod that’s about a foot long. No room for a spanner on my ‘21 Husky. That’s what most guys do.

There is room for a spanner. KTM/Husky make a specific one for it that is curved to make access easier. On some bikes the threads of the plastic ring really grip on the shock body threads and it's impossible to spin it by hand. If you use a hammer and drift to force it you will eventually bugger the plastic ring all up.

You're right, the plastic grooves get mashed up real easy when tapping it with a drift or screwdriver. It's impossible to turn it by hand also. I think I have found the correct spanner so have ordered one off ebay...if its not the right one I'll have to rush out to one of my local Suspension guys to see if I can borrow one in time before I get riding!

Note the slightly longer, squared off teeth and the bigger size...

The one you have pictured is the one I use on my 2020 and 2021. So I think you'll be good. Even with the tool, if the threads are really stuck it helps to have one guy twisting the spring while another is turning with the tool.

Good idea, will bear that in mind. Thanks
