So, i went out today for the 2nd time this year. 2nd time on nearly fresh tyres and tubes, done by a mechanic incl a new rimband and proper pressure 0.9 bar. Last run, a flat reartyre. 🤨
Last year had 5 of them flats, and had since i switched in 2014 from suzuki to ktm sxf350 (2014-2018) and husq fc450 (2019-current) a average of 8 flats per year. It annoys me. Even switched to suzuki rimlocks, but no effect.
Before, i rode a lot more, and 1-2 flats per year was normal.
Whats wrong with me?

Are you tightening the nut on the valve stem down to the rim? Are you getting pinch flats? We need a little more info

What terrain you riding ? Off-road or tracks ? Heavy duty tubes ? I run heavy for mx and ultra heavies for off-road. As Matty asked , are you putting the nut on your valve stem ? Don’t tighten it , leave it up near your valve cap , especially on the rear. When the tire slips on the wheel , which it will , the stem pulls away from the tube if you tighten the nut. I like the rubber stem holders that Honda uses. Chances are that with your progression of bike upgrades , you are twisting that throttle a bit more as well. Good luck. Flats suck !

Well, riding( when it occurs ) on mx hardpack. Had some trouble with torn out valve stems in the past, keeping the nut 1/2 inch loose from the rim.
Looks like that the rim locks dont keep the tire in place. Will tomorrow pull it apart to see whats the problem this time.

Try more air pressure in tires.

First thing would be to check the rim lock and making sure the nuts are to torque (I've always been picky on torq'ing) I run Tubliss systems now with my old man and since then we've had ZERO problems with flats...might wanna check that option out too.

KTMs used to come stock with 2 rim locks, just drill a hole 180 degrees out from your rim lock and install another. Your wheel will be more balanced to boot.

I can’t remember any of my KTM’s over the last 12 years with 2 rim locks. Maybe my memory sucks but I just don’t recall.

I had an 03 and an 04 125SX both had 2 rim locks.

My brother owned a 2011 250SX and it only came with one, must have switched somewhere in between.
