Help buying my first jetski

Hi everyone, I’m wanting to buy a pwc and wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations. My budget is $10K. I want to buy new since I am not familiar with them. I have seen some used ones going for $5K but they’re like 20 years old with over 200 hours. Currently looking into a 2021 Yamaha WaveRunner EX. We’ll mostly be riding in the San Diego bay. Thank you!

If you're on VitalMX you're probably a dirt bike goober like most of us. Stop looking at couches with high horsepower that are essentially small jet boats, and buy a stand up ski. Pick up a cheap 650SX or something first for 1500$, and then move forward to a Superjet or SXR800.

All these new jetski's are like couches on the water.

I wish! That’s what I would get but this is mainly for my wife. I will get an old stand up for sure!

I don't know how true this still is, but back when I was selling Sea-Doos, the only boat to get for saltwater was a Yamaha. They had the only true marine engine in the industry.
Even the Kawasakis, whose engines started life as bilgewater pumps for ships, didn't have as reliable a service record.
It might be very different now that everything is 4-stroke and closed-loop cooling, however.

Get a clean used 2 seater for her. Ones with 2 stroke motors. and also pick up a superjet. you can have 2 for 10k easy.

I wouldn't buy new with something like a jet ski. I can't imagine the technology has changed much at all, and you could get a lot more for your buck if you bought used. But I never buy any motorsport toys, or cars new. Seems like a lot of money to spend for the new car smell.

Yamaha ventures were what 99.9 percent of all rental companies used for many years here in Florida. I worked at the rentals as a teen and never had an issue. There was a reason they used those everywhere. reliability
