Has anyone tried out the new Aviator 3 yet? Is it better than the 2.3? I have a 2.2 at the moment and I was planning on getting a 2.3 as my next helmet but they released the 3 and they're not gonna be manufacturing the 2.3 anymore but the 3 seems like a downgrade from the 2.3. Same safety technology, better aerodynamics, has a hydration system integrated into the helmet liner which is pretty cool but it's 30% heavier than the 2.3 and the whole reason I bought an Airoh in the first place was because of how lightweight they are. I emailed Airoh and basically they said the Aviator 3 has the best aerodynamics for high speed stability, but honestly who gives a shit about the high speed stability of a helmet? I'd much rather have a 2.3 than a 3 and the fact they added all that weight to make it more stable just seems so dumb to me.

I think the ace is the new version of the 2.3.

Yeah Ace is similar to the pre 2.3 Aviator.

The 3 is much heavier that the older Aviators. Why, i don't really know. I haven't got to see one in real life yet.

I found the 2.3 had less room between the chin bar/mouth piece than the 2.2.
The 3 has a little more room there now. You can notice the extra weight on the 3. It’s not a huge amount extra but if you are used to a 2.2 you will feel it.
If I were you I’d try to grab a 2.3. Personally I prefer the feel of the 2.2 and Ace. Not sure if I will be getting a 3.

Compared to the 2.2 and 2.3 it's a bit heavier and does not vent as good. All the interior being magnetic is awesome, the fitment is a bit tighter IMO but feels really good once broken in.

How's the overall quality and durability of it compared to the 2.2? Also how comfortable is it compared to the 2.2? And also what's the shell strength like?

Everything is better on the 3, the only advantage the 2.2 has is the weight. Not sure about the shell strength but I would rather crash in my 3 compared to my 2.2 which feels paperthin Laughing

The Avator 3 is also one of very few helmets with the latest ECE 22.06 rating.

I was actually asking about the shell strength because I believe a softer more flexible shell is better than a harder one, if I felt a hard shell was better I would have an Arai because those helmets are super comfy lol. If it's not too much trouble and you still have a 2.2/2.3, could you try compressing them around the chin bar area and telling me how they flex? Or if not that's fine lol I get that this is a ridiculous request

The 2.2 does flex more around the chin area, but as I said before if you are worried about protection the 3 is better the 2.2 IMO.

Yeah the 2.2 doesn't offer a whole lot of protection since it's just EPS, I don't even know if it's duel density or not. I forgot to ask before but how does the hydration system work? I read it's integrated into the EPS or something and I can't find anything on it.

I have been riding every chance I got these last few days, here are the pictures. Nothing specialbut makes it a bit easier for a USWE tube.

So does the tube go through that hole in the cheek EPS? Or somewhere else I'm not seeing? It's hard to tell just from those photos lol

I only checked it real quick last night but seems like the blue "strap" is the only thing you can put the tub through

Huh, I swear I read that it was integrated into EPS liner. Anyway thanks for the pictures.

Comparing to the 2.3, the 3.0 looks bulkier.
