The AMA has never been "accused of being smart".

It really sucks for those of us just trying to get started in the sport. I wish they'd make the competitions more fair for 2-Strokes.

It really only makes sense right now to buy a 250 two stroke for amateur racing. Fastest bike in the lights class and you can still use the same bike in the open class, way better then buying two bikes. But at a pro level I thought it was awesome to see one out there let alone have a top 25 lap time and the fastest lap in his qualifier full of better bikes.

there's a few pro guys that would
ride a 500 AF
in the 450 class, IF it was allowed.
(or 250 2 stroke in the 250F class)

we would have fielded a team this year had the rule change that had been talked about been put into effect. for the nats..
we dint have any trouble lining up decent riders....

what 500's?

these- www.servicehonda.com
(and 250's as well)

and riders have been getting contingency on them for the last decade that i've made them..
(but of course that is mostly in AMA amateur racing )

On a rough track a 250 2 can be a serious advantage!

Why, he's quite right, there lighter thus leaving you with more energy enabling you to be able to attack more. On sand there great its only hard pack that lets them down against the easy to ride poppers..... 2 strokes are still winning races at club level in the UK and more guys are reverting back to racing them as costs are cheaper.

Check this out!
I hope DI 2-strokes come to motocross very soon and they let 250/250 race together and so on...
Fans love them so why don´t they allow them?
Maybe next year is heaven for fans maybe...

I LOVE my 250 2 stroke but seriously it's no real competition for a modern 450. The power, and especially the width of power just aren't that close. Then you add in tractibility and the 450 just is easier to ride fast.

That all said I'm 100x more comfortable on my 2 stroke than I was on my CRF450 and I just simply have more fun on it so it's an easy decision for me.

The 250 2 strokes should race w/ the 250 4 strokes. Of course most of the time the 250 4 strokes are often turning faster times than most of the 450s.

I think ultimately there is no easier bike to ride fast around a race track than a 250 4 stroke but I find them a bit boring personally.

i think they were accused of it once... but the charges were dropped on the fact they had no credibility.

I hope more riders ride 2 strokes because they have a weight advantage and power , The AMA does not want them to race because the manufactures are trying to kill them , even though they could be the best of all the motors. EVINRUDE makes a 2 stroke that puts out less emissions than any 4 stroke?

Yea but its not a competitive bike, They've made it so that the four strokes have a clear advantage with the displacement rules. I say 250 two strokes in the lights. Cant really do much other then that i dont think anyone would want to ride a 500 in the 450 class
Actually I bet alot of privateers would jump at it. More HP, torque and reliability stock than a modded 450. Throw a Showa "A" kit on it and go racing, no engine mods required. Service Honda would sell plenty for the nationals if they were allowed.
