Hello!
Previously I used a freelap watch and transmitter to get lap times when training.
- I could see total riding time (so I can know I ride 20 mins or something)
- When I pass the transmitter the lap time was displayed for a few seconds
Sadly, I've missplaced them and freelap no longer sells the watch. They're selling some smaller transponders instead and price for a whole system is pretty high.
I've tried using my garmin forerunner 245, but the gps is not accurate enough. I've been looking at gps based timing systems for mx, but I'm not convinced on buying one yet.
So for my question:
Does anyone know of a timing system that:
- not using gps
- transmitter that I place somewhere on the track
- device on me/ the bike
- preferably with a display that shows me my lap times as I ride. Does not need to show total time, but it's of course good. Will still ride with the garmin watch so I could use the total time on that one
Thanks!
/Michael
if someone has a freelap watch for sale let me know!

It uses GPS and seemed to be pretty accurate. You have to ride with your phone though so you'll need some sort of arm strap. I think its free so its worth a try. Also you can install on an old smart phone and it will still work.

I think I will give it a go! Does anyone have any experience of them? Couldn’t find that many reviews, so it’s a chance but hopefully it works
I recommend you use LitPro now. Go on eBay abs buy an xgps 160 for $80. Then download litpro app and sign up for subscription $10/month. Worth every penny.
