I went back to my roots to have some Fall season fun while I wait out the delay on my 21 CRF450 arriving. I sold my 18 RM-Z after hearing the CRFs were being released only to have the arrival date moved back 3 times so far.
Found a low hour 03 CR250R last week and I grabbed it. Brought the forks to Factory Connection's Mike Carnelli for seals, service and a a little valving trickery. Threw some fresh rubber on it, (it still had the originals on there), fresh fluids, slapped some #s on it, then rode it last weekend at NHMX. I fell in love with it after only a few turns on lap 1. Jetting is being finicky, typical of these 02-07 CR's but once she's on the pipe she runs like a raped ape. I'm having a blast and will definitely race this bike from time to time next year alternating between this and the CRF.
Anyway, Since its a 2 smoker, I think it qualifies as a 'Spoke with my wallet" post.

Thinner base gasket will tighten squish and fix jetting issues. PWK will as well.
