What’s up with Webb?

The track was so difficult, nothing wrong with Webb. I’d love to film some of the people that start these threads riding then discuss what’s wrong
The track was equally difficult for everyone out there so that can't just be the issue and Webb just looked off the pace. He's a better SX rider than MX rider as he is really good at starts, and has the race craft skills to keep a lead - and he's fast as hell indoors. But outdoors is another animal and it really isn't his strength when compared to his level and skill at SX. Regardless of his strengths and weaknesses, he still looked off the pace. I'd put money on it being a set up issue. I expect more from Coop this coming weekend.

I just don’t think it was a fair indication of what’s to come outdoors for Webb or anyone really.

I think that his biggest strength is neutralized outdoors. Since his race craft is so good and he gets good starts he can frustrate faster riders into submission indoors where it’s harder to pass. He did it with Marvin so many times the year he won the title and consistently does it to Roczen.

Guys can figure out how to pass him outdoors if they’re faster
I was agreeing with this assessment outdoors, but stating indoors it is more than race skills, he is damn fast. I was not saying he is the best overall US rider, I was saying that he is the smartest on the track. Clearly imho he is not as fast outdoors as several riders. Indoors, he is as fast as anyone when he charges.

I agree. I also think Ken struggles more than he will ever admit at this point. He obviously has some days where everything is in alignment and his massive talent shows through but I think somedays he is just digging much deeper than we realize and willing himself to go on.

He was crushing it in qualifying. Looked ok for the first half of moto 1 but faded at the end. Moto 2 he was non existent, way off the pace. Was it bike setup issues or something else? Kind of figured he’d be ready to battle for the title this year but didn’t look that way at all yesterday.
He hurt his back.
