Can you do a 250sxf top end without removing engine from frame?

Looks like valve cover comes off no problem. not sure if I can slide the head off off the bolts and have it clear the frame tho. Trying to time this with getting frame pc'd so hopefully I can just do the top end now and pull motor later when its due again and do the frame at the same time.

Yes, it can be done. The head can be removed without pulling the motor. There are a couple of videos showing top end replacement with the motor still in the frame. I believe you have to remove radiators etc, but it didn't look too bad.

I just did it on a 350. Don't have to remove radiators.

It uses bolts, not studs to hold the cylinder and head on, so not much lifting it's required. Can definatly be done in the frame.

This goes for the 2016+ models. If older you need to take the engine out.

don't forget to make sure that bike is CLEAN to ensure no dirt falls in the engine.

Make sure to put that sucker at TDC and tighten the holder bolt up. You will know because the bolt screws in all the way. DO that prior to pulling the valve cover.
