Vp c12 in rm250

So I just had my 04 rm 250 rebuilt complete top and bottom end and cylinder sleeved. Good quality parts in it has a 10 oz fly wheel weight, FMF silencer and expansion chamber, and a lectron carb. My question is without having a complete mod engine will running VP c12 cut 50/50 with 93 premix mixed at 32:1 or 40:1 cause it to seize again? I was running it last time it seized but found several other things that could of been a factor when tearing it down. I’ve only rode the bike twice before it seized After buying it. Was it running to lean last time ? Note: I only ran the c12 because it seemed to be pinging on just 93. It ran way better cut with c12.

It probably seized because it was lean. Make sure your jetting is correct for that fuel and oil ratio.

If I’m not mistaken with the lectron carb there is no jetting. Just adjustment. I ran the bike for maybe 20 mins not hard at all maybe mid throttle. Maybe it was just it’s time to go it also appeared to have all the original Suzuki parts in it so don’t think it’s ever been torn down.

Theres absolutely jetting on a lectron. Adjusting the metering rod and power jet is what dials it in.

Right that’s what I was saying adjusting not changing jets

I’d toss that Lectron and get the stock carb with the jetting for the pipe/silencer combo and go from there

I second this, or learn to tune the lectron before you end up with another pile of parts.

The Lectron is the best thing you could have on there. First off you need to determine if you are experiencing a lean condition and if that's the reason you seized it. If it is running lean , the easiest way to correct that is to spin in the metering rod in a half-turn (they can be tuned 1/4 turn at a time)and open the powerjet screw half turn as well. Do this until the bike is blubbering and then reverse the process until its clean and crisp. The entire process should take less than 45 minutes. Once you get it dialed in, your golden. Since you bought the bike used, you have no idea how the other dude had it set up.

Make sure you don't have an air leak between the carb, reed block and cylinder. Much more common than you think ,and that will make proper jetting impossible, cause the pinging you mentioned AND fry your engine quickly as well.

A few other things-- if you experience any trouble , Dave and the guys at Lectron are unparalleled with customer support and advice. Call them if needed.

I run C12 at 40:1 with Redline in all my 2 strokes- from the 74 Husky Mag all the way thru to my modern bikes. (including an 06 RM250 with a Lectron)

And if you "toss" the Lectron, PM me and I'll take it.

Okay just so you all know the bike seized up with the original carb on it . Not since I had the lectron. The lectron was installed after a full build. Idk who the hell would scrap a lectron and go back to the original carb. Never said I had any issues with the lectron. My question was is running c12 on a stock engine a good idea or no? Nothing to do with the carb. Also after I tore the engine down I notice a mass amount of carbon build up on the piston and it looked as if water had gotten in there at one point. Mind you the point the bike seized up from the time I bought it from the original owner was literally 30 mins of riding it. So idk where all the talk is about tuning the lectron or tossing it is coming from but that wasn’t at all what I was asking.

Probably should have posed the question in a more lucid manner ,and we would have answered more accurately. To answer your "actual question" ,as I said above, I run C12 (straight--not cut)in everyone of my racebikes. and no, it won't cause your bike to sieze, as long as everything else is correct.... ie...jetting/no air leaks,

Running straight, as in not cut with other lower octane gas, c12 on a stock engine, with stock carb & settings should make the fuel mixture very rich...
