Exactly, people want filet mignon but only willing to pay for chicken livers. Good help isn’t hard to find, it’s just not cheap.

I think a lot of people think* they are “better” than starting at the bottom and working their way up...

I can’t even find someone to wash cars and sweep floors that is dependable and puts forth an effort. I can’t even begin to imagine how many employees you would have to go through to assemble a good bunch to put together a decent race team effort.

My dad retired a Division Director at Lockheed-Martin. He started in the Defense Industry as a “shop helper”: he swept the floors and put tools away.

Why is it that this point isn’t understood?

That’s starting at the top! You’ll have to sweep his floor first.

Bummer, Walker posts video on his insta of those two riding those sweet team bikes up, and down the side of a massive hill, and later that week they both leave the team.
Robin wasn’t there, it was Walker and Schock

Naw, Jeff came out here while I was still waiting for the rig to come back with another 450 that was gonna be his new practice bike and the new one in the shop was to be his race bike. He brought his own with him and was riding it until we had that one ready for him.

So who will be your riders when/if outdoors begins?

More importantly will there be a Vitard Draft lottery for the vacant place after Jeff's departure? Laughing

There were some strong voices in the past of people willing to take their keyboards behind factory bars.

I delivered auto parts and paint for $3.15 an hour. I had more deliveries per day than any of the others and my truck was the cleanest and best maintained of the bunch. Freight trucks still needed to be unloaded whether it was freezing cold or pouring down rain. I moved up while others planned on making a career out of it. Some people get it, some people get it handed to them.

Better chuck a mask on. It's already spread to about 4 different threads.

Good luck to ML & Team.
Might be better to quarantine the ones infected with Speculationvirus and put them down if they show signs of getting worse

ML any chance they come back once you guys are for sure about when you can go racing and what the parts/bikes situation will look like for the rest of the year? I can only imagine this all has something to do with it costing them money to be in Cali with no solid income in sight and you not being able to fund them burning through parts without a for sure start date of when racing (which the sponsors are paying for) will happen

Unfortunately, no, neither Walker nor Robin will return once racing resumes.

However, you are right that the current situation makes it difficult to do much with the uncertainty of when racing will resume, parts availability, etc.

We’re currently set to support two riders this Summer and when we return to SX this fall it’ll be Shock, Starling and Blose. I’m unsure if we will add another SX rider or not. I need to work on a few things this week to see what best makes sense for the team and sponsors.

Lots of people underestimate the cost associated with operating any business. Things like mistakes, trucks breaking down, flat tires or people not showing up can break companies fast. It cost $1.75 per mile to operate a semi truck alone. Usually your successful companies are owned or operated by senior people with lots of experience. My guess is this owner is young, with little to no experience. Probably the “ I’m gonna show you how it’s done” attitude. Now there’s now work, no income and no employees. I wish this team luck, but I would recommend restructuring fast.

MX is the worst idea most of us have ever had and I would not want it any other way. Cool MX has shown me that I can overcome anything and how tough a person can be.

I'm confused as to why guys would even bother leaving, can it actually be better to support yourself right now? I mean where else would they go for support? I'd rather have ML buy my oil and filters and tires to keep the bikes going. Or did ML fire guys because they kept wearing ear plugs and he didn't want to talk to himself anymore? 😂

Depends on who you have in front of you if that person looks at it as an opportunity and sees potential growth in the future he will be more than happy to wash cars and sweep the floor.

take me as an example, I don't have much but if given the chance I walk in 6 days a week at 6 am and work till 6 pm.
you see this kind of position is more than just washing cars and sweeping floors its a window of opportunity for guys like me.

I guess I always expected more from degreed and/or experienced workers but I see the same behavior in people I pay $50+ an hour. I guess it makes it easier to swallow when I'm only paying them minimum wage.

The weirdest part to me is I thought these were the 2 main guys the team was started to "help".

Side note, was so bummed for all of them when Blose got hurt, he's solid.

Shock had some impressive results last years outdoors, he’s a great pick up.

Here's my take from the complete outside looking in.

Jerry Robin seems to be in a constant state of turmoil, this is just a continuation of that.

Jeff Walker can barely make the 40 man gate at the Nationals, he doesn't really deserve a ride like that anyway. Plenty of faster guys that would probably gladly take the seat they just don't have the YouTube views.

Best of luck going forward ML!

Would be cool to see my home boy Felix Lopez on that team. He made it last year in the 450 class with a stock KTM (not even FE)
