That was a great weekend , shame no USA , that would have been really special , I remember standing on a waste bin with Adam Lyons who would have rode for Ireland that year but was injured , he was super cool and knowledgeable

Back in time when it was normal you saw 2 smokers killing it in the sand! Happy the track/club is allowed to host races again.. I wish an mxgp race will be held there once again! This is so much different than any sand track on the calendar now.. 95% or the corners are 90 degrees so all about rythm and line choice.. not just 180 degre berms..

Fanbloodytastic!

Could you give us details of how the axe hanging over Lierop was stopped?

I thought it was pretty much over for that Great circuit, so your post has made my day.

Adam Lyons is now running his family Peugeot car dealership in Castelderg and is helping out some local young riders with advice and sponsorship, one of the sports good guys, and a very stylish rider in his day, some great racing back then locally with him and his now brother in law Philip McCullough.

I think just 1 neighbour was complaining. The whole community of Lierop was hoping the track was gonna stay because the Mx track is what made Lierop famous!

In the end they had to close the track for 2 or 3 years. Did a lot of protesting and paperwork and now they are open for races again (but with the practice layout. So the loop with the split section and the pitlane are not there. Now you have the 2 famous jumps out of “de herselse bossen” and Have a long left sweeper untill the corner before the table top.
About the practice I am not sure. But they can run “1 day events” so no gp’s I think.. but atleast we are racing there again.
We had a onk there last year.
