Unless we have people over, it is always paper plates in this house 😁

Oh the family gets paper when they come over. Only work people/friends get the good stuff. Can't be looking like heathens when they come over, even though we know they do the same thing at home. hahaha

What is everyone doing for food lately with the supermarkets picked over? Local restaurants have started selling meat from their suppliers. Picked up a 10 pound pack of ground beef and 10 of chicken breasts the other day. Margaritas by the gallon are available at the mexican restaurants...just sayin'Smile

We split a cow with our friends in late November. Not sure how much of those 234 pounds are left but looking in the freezer, the wife and I will be good for many, many months.

Local cows raised by a family friend and his dad is the county butcher shop and cuts/packages the meat to my specifications. Works out great.

We r still getting some meat - have a few pounds of ground beef and bacon. You can get steak at the local HEB but it isn’t prime - wife wants snow crab this week going to have to hunt for it.

I prepped a bunch of meals in Nov-Dec so I wouldn't have to pack in veggies later when the snow came. I made, jalapeno poppers, jam, chili, tamale pie, stew, stuffed bell peppers, spaghetti sauce, tamales and chili con carne rice bean cheese burritos. Plus I froze like 20 rib, cap and tomahawk steaks, fresh baked cookies, milk, muffins, bread, a couple hams, a bunch of pork ribs, loin and chops, whole chickens boneless thighs, breasts, wings. I flash froze a bunch of veggies to use as pizza toppings. Theres a couple half gallons of ice cream also.
The cupboards are overstocked with everything, I've never been more prepared for anything in my life. There's even a can of Spam, I swear I bought 2-3 of everything in the store. I still have 25lb each of bear and venison along with some pork shoulder to make sausage. I already bought all the garden seeds and have raspberry, blackberry, apples, pears, apricots, plums, gooseberries, goji, and peaches growing. The chickens are laying a dozen eggs a day.

After I prepped all this the snow never came, so I kept going to town and getting fresh food or ate out so I could save all my work. Then boom, the virus hits. My kids thought I was a kook but now I look like a genius.

I still have 12lbs of bacon and about 10lbs of Costco giant crab legs that were left over from Christmas.

Costco has Prime beef, it's my favorite store

We’re using up everything that was in the freezer for the last year. Luckily we live in a rural area with a small butcher shop just up the road who keeps a pretty good stock and is willing to carve out any cut that we desire.

We've been on a similar thing since early February. Completely cleared out the freezer of all the frozen protein we had, them promptly filled it back up to the brim Tongue

Our stores up where I shop are mostly stocked. Few small items come and go. But most proteins are all stocked. Ribs, chicken, steaks, hams, bacon, pork chops, whole chickens, sandwich meats, etc.

All the stuff that’s actually good for you is still there. Meat, produce, eggs, dairy.

Read an interesting article on shopping to eat healthy. The key was to remain on the perimeter of the store and stay off the aisles, where the crap is.
