ive played all the games, all of them. from arcade to simcade to simulator. ive played them all extensively. imo, the best motocross game, for first person view riding...is MX Bikes.this is strickly from a physics/riding experience perspective. i dont really care about career modes and all that jazz. imo, this game gives the most realistic riding experience ie speed, acceleration, weight distribution, cornering and the sorts. i dont play the game in third person, so i cannot comment on the experience in that view. when you put alot of time into a simulator and you become decent/good at the game, arcade games just dont seem fun to me anymore. the best thing about this game is that the community is growing, some of the best tracks ever made have just been released recently (Hill Valley MX) and the devs continue to work on the game and release content. check out some of my videos

the next beta is about to be released too.
I have the game and can’t make it 40ft without crashing. I bought a gaming computer just for these games, however have no knowledge of the simulators. For context I’ve played every console game and currently top 50 in Supercross 3, however I have to be doing something wrong because my current opinion is that game is straight trash. What’s the secret? I’ve tried remapping an xbox controller and that was no help. The physics honestly feel like paperboy. Although based on your videos it looks like an entirely different game.

MX Unleashed to me will always be the best game. The way you worked your way up from amateur to pro was incredible. If they could take that game and update the graphics, add in track deterioration, and of course add in the body weight features, that game would sell big time today. AI needs to be a lot better too. The tracks in that game are incredible. It had a realistic effect too when block passing people. Now it seems like every game when there’s contact rear tire to front tire, the front tire guy just spins him out. In that game it didn’t happen like that. Also they gave you the white flag which I really wish the games now did that. I’m in an online battle sometimes and then it’s over. Would like to know it’s the final lap. All in all it was a really incredible game with an unmatched career path as well as some amazing tracks and realistic rider contact. The money I’d give for that game to be updated.

Assuming you can't play on Live though, right?

I am not 100% sure as I didn’t even look for online play as an option, but I’m guessing you are correct as this is from the original Xbox

MCM2 was THE BEST SX/MX game ever when it came out. One reason was that no one had ever offered an MX/SX game with such a huge online community. The game itself was very basic. It did the job. But with so much online presence at THE ZONE giving us the ability to race all your buddies made it endless fun. Then private sites with tracks creations, skins, lap time logs, clubs, teams etc. It was just awesome.

Reflex was the next one that brought the bar up. It went the right way with game play and graphics but then locked us down as far as track making, online community, only one set of stock tracks. We all waited for ever for a Reflex 2. Not making a Reflex 2 was the biggest screw up in gaming history.

Today MES3 is THE best game as far as authenticity goes. Is it 100% authentic? Of course not. But it is way closer than any other game that has ever been made. Thank you Milestone for that.

Now fix the editor please.

Here is my crappy opinion...

MX Bikes:
- Made by a guy who knows what the hell he is doing. (He has scratch built three other amazing physics engines, GP Bikes, World Racing Series and Kart Racing Pro)
- It is the best simulation of "leaning" a motorcycle I have ever played. Great physics. Lots of bikes and tracks to expand the purchase for free after paying the initial $35 bucks. Easy to install and add tracks. (thats important to newcomers)
- MXBikes Virtual Reality is the best VR I have ever used. Out of all the games in my library..... Its hands donwn the best simulation ive ever encountered. Hitting the tripple on a supercross track with the headset on is MIND BLOWING.
- Good community but not as hardcore as the MX Simulator crew.

Get it here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/655500/MX_Bikes/

MX Simulator:
- Built also by someone who knows what they are doing.
- Amazing but querky physics in the air.
- A little harder to install mods and tracks. (MXBikes is on steam and a little better organized)
- Awesome community and way more real moto guys in there know what they are actually talking about.
- Amazing looking graphics when modded out.

Get it here: https://mxsimulator.com/

MXGP3:
- Easy to play for "non gamers"
- Super easy to get going in minutes.
- Easy to ride and just enjoy the track.
- I got it on a deal and have just enjoyed riding in the mud and ripping lines in the track surface.

Get it here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/561600/MXGP3__The_Official_Motocross…

Or the greatest game ever made for 2 wheels..... Excitebike

I played monster energy supercross 3 for about an hour and half last night and I gotta say it’s pretty damn hard to learn. I put the physics on pro or whatever the setting is straight from the jump cause I don’t want to have to re learn it again. The physics through the rhythm sections is not good I have to say. Even if you land in the valley on a rhythm when you’re carrying a lot of momentum the riders knees buckle and you get sent off the side of the track.

Also the way you get boosted off the faces of jumps is ridiculous as well. It’s like there’s some kind of speed pad like there is on excite bike or something... The handling coming out of corners is super temperamental as well. You either low side and slide out or you get boosted and it sends you off on some squirrelly hard to control shit. I was going to say the braking is pretty horrible as well but I learned to lean forward, which is pretty temperamental as well.

The learning curve for this game is pretty crazy. I can see why it got so many 1 star reviews from people that want to play something less challenging. I personally would have to give it 3/5 so far. I gotta say though big up for adding track editor to the game. That’s definitely a big plus.

SX1 had a track editor. Keep playing you’ll get better. Left analog stick is actually the preload? Or seat bounce? I forget, but both analogs give you a boost. I still get a random boost at times but usually only on certain tracks where it’s hard landing to breaking.

My 13 year old son and I continue to battle it out on Reflex and occasionally bust out MX vs ATV unleashed on the ps2, the gameplay on unleashed is great, doesn't take long to get back in the groove and the soundtrack is the best in any mx game.

We have most of the newer games but these 2 are firm favourites with us.

Yeah supercross cicruit was a great game. I remember putting AI on the hardest difficulty and trying to lap the field at least twice in 20 laps.

I also loved mva unleashed. If there is one game i would play most it was that game, but i think im a little biased because i was ranked top 5 on Live and also probably the best guy on the PC with the Rev add-on. Didnt play sim 2 physics very much as I got the PC version as REv was coming out.

The thing that is cool about these games for PC is new tracks, skins, and physics come out which is huge. People were playing unleased on PC up even like 6 years after the game came out.

For MX Bikes, It took me about 15-20 hours of solid play time to be able to make it around an MX track without crashing and going a decent speed. Once you get it, the game is easy to play and very satisfying. Join the discord server if you need advice or set-up info. https://discord.gg/8wwwNDn

I'm in the process of building a replica of the Erzberg for MX Bikes.

But a PC version of reflex on steam. Lots of custom tracks on the web.

MX Simulator looks the same as it did 8 years ago when I quit playing it. It's past it's prime with a loyal following not willing to move on because of all the time you have to put in to get used to the utterly nonsense physics IMO.

@Levimx22 You had to be a real hardcore fan of moto to enjoy Jeremy Mcgrath Supercross world. Its older brother Dave Mirra BMX 2 was one of the most enjoyable games to this date. MX unleashed had a feature very similar to Dave Mirra, where you had to clear glowing green gaps before the AI.

My favorite current one is MX vs ATV All Out. Must have put thousands of hours into it by now. It's not a perfect game. But it's the most fun I have had on the console.

The best though was Motocross Madness 2. The community for that game was unreal. The mods, tracks etc. and the physics engine at the time..god i loved that game.

Any of the newer games have a bit of a learning curve. All out is the most similar to reflex or Alive, but supercross 3 is my favorite of the console games so far

it’s one of those games that you buy and find pretty underwhelming but you still play it and get pretty good at it because you spent $60 on it and want to get your money out of it. Honestly though I’ll probably just go back to playing forza or binge watching the office again.
