I always thought they were cool looking but i never saw one in person. I know it was towards the end did anyone ever have one? I'm pretty sure they were lacking compared to Japanese bikes by this point. Wasn't they rotary valve as well.

Yes rotary valve intake. I have an old MXA with an 86 Euro 250 shootout . It had the Can am , Maico, Husqvarna, and KTM. The only good thing they had to say about the Can am was it had a good rear brake, lol. They also said it looked like it had been bolted together by a plumber. They roasted it pretty good. I've never seen one in person either but I have seen a few for sale online. Pretty rare though.

The Hams never got much respect in the day but for a vintage racer, they are damn good. The Rotax motor was pretty long in the tooth by 86 but still quick and stone reliable. Can-Am's show up semi-regular for sale and always seem to be in pretty good shape for some reason. I always loved the look of the Brit Can-Am's and wanted a 200 really bad but ended up with a KDX after they folded.
I will say some of the engineering on the chassis will leave you scratching your head. All plumbers should take insult to that MXA commit!

Completely different rotary valve design than the early Can Am's and Rotax engines found in Ski Doo and Sea Doo.

You can get just about any part for a Can Am that is needed.  RTR moto as identified above and also check out the following:

https://vintageroost.com/

https://www.dcvmx.com/   (mostly plastic and seats)

https://www.vintco.com/

This site has some engine parts for an SWM motorcycle that are the same as used in the Can Am (Rotax)
