Old GasGas Enduro Platform Lives On with Rieju!

Good news for current owners, getting parts should be no problem now.

Seems bizarre to me. So KTM have really only bought the name? Seems like it would have been better to just start a new brand.

That does seem odd. I figured KTM bought the whole shooting match. I wonder what happens with the trials sector then?

This is a lost chance for all Japanese brands. GasGas had very good two stroke tech, so just imagine Suzuki/Kawasaki/Honda/Yamaha buying the intellectual rights of GasGas to create new 50/65/85/125/250/300cc bikes. Same with brands as Beta/TM if that gets in trouble its a opportunity but Japanese manufacturers think they all know better.

KTM have 60% - Black Torrot have 40% in a partnership, so to speak, if I recall correctly. With, obvious Now, Black Torrots Torrot Electric Europa having the rights etc to the Gas Gas Enduro set up.

I was wondering if KTM would do the same as what they (if it were 'they', and not BMW) did with the Italian Huskies - selling the design / parts/ production machinery and rights to another / other party(ies).

But, the Enduro 21 article says that it was Black Torrot / Torrot Electric Europa that sold the Gas Gas 'package' to Rieju.

Rieju had been a customer / collaborator with Gas Gas - I remember tests of Riejus in Trail Bike Rider, during the era that Gas Gas made their 250 4T (and a big bore 280 /300) using the Yamaha WR250 engine. And, I think they may have used other engines / frames etc of Gas Gas's.

This is Great news.

Owners of Gas Gas's will have parts back up, and a quite fine Motorcycle design / type, will, hopefully, continue on.

KYB suspension a big plus.

So funny that a bike called a Rieju will be a more authentic GasGas than the bike with GasGas written on it!

GasGas trials remains with KTM.

They bought GG for the electric tech, trials and the name.
