God damn.....you guys ALL speculate to damn much! I'm with GuyB on this one......lets just watch the race and see where the dice fall. I have a good feeling who will be strong and who won't.....but i wouldn't bet on anything just yet.

Another good point GuyB brought up......"they have to make it through all 24 friggin' motos!"....no matter how fast they are!

One thing is for sure.....there is going to be some great racing in BOTH classes!

I'm sorry, but if anybody is heading to GH with a pocket full of confidence it is Mike Alessi. With JS7 not confirmed MA should be the favorite, He smoked everybody else last year consistantly and should have no problem doing it again, he gets great starts and doesn't fade to the back like he does in SX. RV and Reed will be fast and close by ,but I think MA WILL hold it on longer and wick it up faster outdoors where he is way more comfortable.

Chad will be a nice touch to the front of the pack but my moneys on RV2. RV is one bad dude outside on a motorcycle. He will be compared to the GOAT one day, kids on a mission.

I didn't say debating wasn't a good thing. I'm saying some guys take it to far and damn near want to fight to death ( with words) to support who "they" think is going to win. Everyone should be rooting for their favorite rider for sure......but there are a lot of guys who "think" they know , or "hope" their rider is going to win. All i want is some good racing.....that's it. Just look at the thread title......should we just give Reed the title? HAHA!!.....NO!

Honestly....yaeh , it's all speculation. So you can speculate all you want. But whatever happens at G.H. this next weekend....is just a peek at what the rest of the series is going to be like. Who's going to make it through the whole season without injuries? You can bet there will probably be a good 10-20% of the fast guys out with injury before these 24 motos are finished.

Reed will not go balls out until he needs to. I think he will raise the bar and force RV and/or MA to ride a little over their heads towards the end of the series. Reed is a seasoned vet in the premier class...world-wide.

A lot of people here seem to forget what a power-house Reed is without RC or JS. When he did race the outdoor series he was always a championship threat and I'm sure he didn't forget how to do it.

MA was super strong last year and he made a fan out of me, but he didn't have RV in the class. RV has a couple of championships under his belt whereas MA does not. MA will have so much more pressure on him than RV.

I believe Reed will win the title but not easily. I pick MA for second after RV gets slightly injured while trying to run at Reed's pace. MA will not try to match Reed's pace and be extremely consistent.

Alessi and Villo can both beat Reed outdoors, and Short and Windham can give him a good run. Reed is a great supercross rider but he won't hang it out enough to win a title outdoors.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Reed has only won 1 national in his career. That's in 6 years of trying.

On a different subject, I'm looking for a little help before the TX national for my rider. Do you know of practice tracks in your area that are similar to Freestone? I'm not sure when we will get there...it kind of depends on where there is to practice. We could be there as early as Tuesday after Hangtown.

If JS doesn't race the entire series, CR will be the favorite, but I don't think he's gonna walk away with it. RV2 is carrying some momentum out of SX and I just don't think CR is in everyone's head the way JS is.

It's not really similar to Freestone, but 3 Palms probably has the most variety in terrain and it's a great place to train. Swann and Oak Hill would probably be good places, too. There's a great sand track called Montalba that's real close to Freestone. Traditionally, Rio Bravo is one of the rougher tracks in the area but the new owners are prepping it more than they used to. As National tracks go, Freestone isn't that difficult of a layout - it's a great place for racing, but it doesn't really have a specific "oh, shit" section that a rider would need to practice for. In my opinion, getting acclimated to some heat and humidity and getting used to softer dirt is probably more important than practice on a particular type of obstacle. Sometimes it's not too bad in early June but you can bet the combination of heat and humidity will take some getting used to if someone doesn't live in the Gulf Coast area.

Seems noone here is remembering Cody Coopers nice season last yr outdoors and this year he's on top notch equipment. It would be nice to see5-6 different overall winners this season. It's shaping up to be one helluva year outdoors in both classes.

I'd love to see Reed win, he is my new favorite rider and he deserves the title. But anyone who thinks it will be easy with RV there is fooling themselves -- and it appears that J-Law is hauling balls too. It is shaping up to be a great season.
