My first Millville National was 1988, where I watched Donny Schmit rocket around on his RM 125 and win the overall. I happened to be standing next to the fence right after the finish line taking pictures and caught his goggles he tossed after the second moto. Blue Scott model 89 with White Roll Off's.

Been a Huge fan ever since.

I lived in the MSP/ St Paul area from 1992-1996 and raced quite a bit in D23. There was always Chesterfield Bikes around that I thought were awesome.

I have a 2011 YZ 250 that I thought would make a pretty good project bike and decided to make a 1992 Dony Schmit Replica.

I stumbled across this photo in a google search, not idea who built it but what I am after for an overall look.

Another example.

The donor bike is a fairly stock 2011 YZ 250.

RK Head, Flex Bars, IMS tank, EVO Suspension and a PC Shorty Silencer.

Step one was disassembly. The motor was good. I replaced the head late spring and the cylinder had cross hatching still. Low hour.

The steering stem bearings needed some attention as well as all other bearings. Shock needed some fresh oil and a charge. Fresh oil for the forks.

My son's YZ 125 in the background, along with my 1982 Maico 250.

I spoke with Dubya about building me a set of wheels using my stock hubs. The price was great, but since I can do the work myself I decided to go that route. Picked up a set of rims and spoke kits from Motosport.

Couple hours later I had the Goldentyre GT216AA mounted up with the tubliss set up and on the bike.

What year and bike did you select on Moto sport to find the gold rims?

Hi

The Yamaha’s are mine . If you want a picture perfect bike don’t use a white plastic tank from Clarke - they discolor almost immediately no matter what you do to stop the discoloration.

I had my own ali tanks built - then we sealed the tank - by the way the modern YZ is actually a 300cc

Contact me if you need any help

Regards

Well, the Aluminium Tanks show Crabman was not scared of spending money, so, I think Bormi Parts have made Swingarms in the same Pressed Form as the DS Works bike pictured first............. Woohoo

So, Crabman, and Coach529, as you can see, I'm always happy to suggest to people how they should spend their money..... Whistling

Amazing builds. Since most of riding is off-road most of the time it will have a 3.0 gallon natural color IMS tank on it. Not sure how it will look until it is built.

Were did you source the seat covers?

Finally got it all buttoned up. I have not had a chance to take it outside for some proper pictures though.

Still missing the chain in these pictures.

Hey Buddy so WOW white Clark tanks turn yellow quickly? If you don't put fuel in,would that help? I see you went aluminum, why did you seal it? I would go to the Italian guys for a tank? I gotta build a 92 Chesterfield bike. Yours is beautiful.
