Sticky Throttle??... Help?

Hi, Im new to vital Mx, and i was just wondering if anyone could help me..., I have a race coming up on the 24th may, this SUNDAY, and my throttle is not returning (snapping), back to neutral or normal throttle, not going to off postilion. (this is on the handle bars, the bit you grip with your right hand).

I would much appreciate any ANY help that someone might beable to help, as this will not get me past scrutineering,.... My bike is a Honda 2005 Crf450R

You should try pulling your throttle tube off and cleaning between the throttle tube and the handle bar, sometimes dirt get in there. Also lube your cables while you have it apart. If that doesn't work you more than likely have dirt in you carburetor. Hope this helps.

Could be a few things...

1) Make sure the throttle tube isn't pushed tightly against the end of the handlebar

2) Clean between the handlebar/throttle tube and the came systems here the cables connect to the throttle tube.

3) Clean and lube throttle cables with a cable luber

4) Clean carb where the throttle cables connect.

If the cables are adjusted too tight they will cause the throttle to stick.

Just keep your left thumb on the kill switch. You should be able to race with a throttle that is stuck wide open by governing the RPM with the kill switch.

P.S. Check the routing on your cable and make sure it isn't kinked or frayed.

+1 For cables. Check the routing, and check the adjustment. Pull apart the throttle and clean.

New cables are cheap from motion pro $15 it's time. I change cables ever year.

Cables +2. The hondas are bad to stick throttle cables. You might get lucky. Get some carb cleaner and a cable luber. Take the cables off and spray the carb cleaner in them with the cable luber. Work the cables back and forth to free up grit and debris. Once they move freely, lube them up with a light oil or silicone lube.

It's much easier to just replace them though. Also, make sure the throttle tube is clean inside.

Cables and clean the throttle tube and handlebar also try to dump out all the dirt that collects in your handle bars and make sure its plugged up.

Hey Guy's thanks for all your help, the Advice was overwealming.

I semi, resolved the issue, by filing down the throttle housing, Lubing up the throttle cables, and taking the seat/fairing/tank off and adjusting the cables at the bottom (engine)end.
i also had my cables running, around the engine (on the side of the tank), moving these too run parallel under the centre of the tank.
Then with some minor adjusting on the handle bars and some more filing, I was able to make it acceptable for Racing.
After this weekend i will need to buy a whole new throttle assembly, and cables.
