Last interview I saw he was lamenting the life of a retail store owner 👉 "Dude, have you ever tried to hire good employees? You know, the kind who actually show up and want to work."

He just had another surgery a couple weeks ago. Last I heard still couldn't see well enough to begin seriously riding.

He has said a couple times in interviews that there is no surgery for a stretched optic nerve and the only thing they say is it might get somewhat better with time. That was a while ago he did that interview so who knows but I think he has moved on.

I always cheered for Weston, hard work and determination is his makeup! I am glad he is alive and doing well. Racing is secondary at this point.

Holy fuck I would have never guessed after this happened over a year ago that it would be this serious still a year later. Shit sucks. I’d love to see him out there again but the main thing I’m hoping for is that he regains all senses to 100% and lives a happy life from here on out.

I have optic nerve damage in one eye from hitting my head 13 years ago. It’s not gonna heal, once nerves are damaged they’re toast. His best bet is to look into stem cells but I don’t know if they’ve made much progress yet with all that

From what he wrote in a tweet a couple months ago, he is virtually sightless in one eye. He also said that he would probably never be able to return to pro racing because of that blindness caused by optic nerve damage. It wouldn't be safe for him or others on the track.
