Hey guys! Havent posted on here in a while. I just picked up a 2006 Honda CR250r, I have completely flipped the bike and the finished product should be pretty premium. I'm looking to upgrade the brakes but I'm not very knowledgable about the topic. What is the difference between the big companies such as Galfer and Braking and the "knock off" brands such as Tusk. I know there was a few posts similar to this topic but I can't find them. If memory serves me right there was a rep from Galfer that had some good input. Thanks in advance!

Have you ever had any other brands? Just curious if people can really tell a difference.

I had a Galfer on my 02 and liked it. No issues.

The rotor that came on my 450 when i bought it used was a braking rotor. And no cant tell a difference in quality. Obviously the bigger rotor is more powerful tho.

KTM come with Galfer and I upgraded to a oversize Galfer. I could really tell a difference in the braking performance. No matter what brand you go with its going to be an upgrade from stock in terms of performance. I think depending on the kit you look at they are all close to the same price. I picked my oversize kit up for like $140 for the rotor and bracket.

Thanks for the help! I’m looking at the skw kit from galfer but I’ve also looked into the typhoon kit from Tusk.

Steel brake line with a crf front brake master cylinder and a 280 rotor with nissin pads. The feel of a floating disk compared to a solid one is for every one different. Personal i always wanted to try the moto stuff 280 but with the import and bs it's not worth it.

I sa many disk broken by one person, Person is burning those disk with riding with his feet or with his fingers on the lever and burning and cracking in half. Then we talking about brand new disk in just a hour or 2 while riding. They just snap in half. So in that way, what is a good disk.

Tried a 270 mm from china for 20 bucks, tried a rear disk from china for 24 bucks and they are pretty good. Tried a galfer/ebc/motomaster etc and i can't really say what is the best. Yes, a steel line with the right master and 280 with great pads that's gonna make a difference against stock but what brand that's up to your own. This was on a cr250 '06

Or get the 2020 front brake from a crf, if it fits and put some titanium pistons in it. That would be my choice. I can know the rear one what i have is a TI and doing it's job.
