No I didn’t do anything Other than degrees them. I checked the threads and heads of every bold and made a list of all the oem Bolt specs for my bike. Every worn, damaged or incorrect piece was replaced.

Or my current 92 build Brian I went the re-plate way also.
It was very cost effective around $75.00 here in Fresno.
I did clean up all my axel bolts and nuts prior to re-plate. I wanted to remove signs of tool marks and some other damage. Typically with most anything being recoated the smoother the finish the better the finish. I would do all my clean up again prior to re-plate. Just my opinion.
No way would I do the re-plate myself. Just stringing up all the pieces is no small job. I spent about an hour just removing all mine from the wire they used to hang the parts for dipping.

Seems like that route is much cheaper than buying a spec bolt kit.

I cleaned up the forks and I decided I did not like the billet tree top and the oversized handle bars so I ordered another one from the bay.

Cleaned up the radiator guards as good as I could. I heard there are some 125 guards that are still available that can be modded to fit.

Great work! Late model Yzf footpegs, springs & pins fit right on these Steelies, nice easy upgrade! Before you start reassembling your cylinder, used compressed air to blow out all holes & ports, then Wash cylinder diligently in warm soapy water using a toothbrush or something similar, then wipe out with white cotton rag & wd- 40, keep cleaning it until the white rag wipes cylinder walls clean. The process Powersealusa uses leaves Media blasting debris in the cylinder ports & any holes, like stud holes. keep up the good work!

Thanks so much for all of your suggestions. I will be sure to get it real clean. We took the rear shock apart last night but broke the bladder cap. I guess either hitting it down or pulling out broke the threads on the air port. I have another one on the way.

Damn. Now that is a good job. The spec bolt kit leaves out a lot of bolts. A pretty random jumble of stuff for the price.

Yarrrr thanks, I really appreciate it. The cast part of the swing arm was too dark so I used easy off to get it off. It really brightened it up.

Just wondering if you guys all ride your builds often at the track or just once in a blue moon? Thinking of getting back in on a 1996 CR250 but not sure as I am old and out of shape. Lol. I used to race amateur and do some scrambles and wondering How it would fare? thanks.

I ride with my brother. I just got back into riding about a year ago after not doing it for many years. That is when I started the CR125 build. I am old too at 53. For many years I went with my two sons to hundreds of tennis tournaments. Now i have a senior in college and a senior in high school so it is almost over.

No updates lately i have had the flu for a week.

I just ordered a Bolt kit from Bolt. I got the Honda CR Steel Frame kit. I do not know the expertise to re-plate stuff yet.
