Was watching the Cudby vid of Glen Helen, and it hit me that Villo's wearing MC's number. I kinda forgot about that through the season. Got me wondering who's going to have the balls to wear the #4 first.

When does he lose it? Maybe he'd do a one-off to keep #4...

Otherwise he's gotta repaint the car...

If the points/number system worked like it should the guy that finished 4th in the points this summer would be wearing it. Hey we got a class name change. why can't this be changed too?

That wouldn't make any sense at all. So every year people would have to buy all new t-shirts, stickers, hats, etc. because there favorite rider changed his number?

every time some motocross bike shows with nº 4 on it ......we all will remember RC ......no matter what.....!!!!!
so sometime soon someone will carry nº 4 when it will be available, as it happens to all the other numbers.....even mac's nº2...!!!!!!!!!
i like the carrear numbers, i think it helps the general public to recognise the riders, but i also think that the champion must use nº 1 and the red plate is nice too, but like in the mxpg, where it is used by the championship leader............

In a couple of years there will be some fast kids that have heard of RC but never grew up watching him race.... It will just be a number to them.

Given the general lack of history and understanding in our sport, I unfortunately agree with you.

The career numbering system is a disaster. I think it keeps getting some guys rides while some riders had great years, in the top 10 overall, and can't show it.

Who gives a shit about the casual fan having to change his hat. This isn't NASCAR, and we should stop trying to be.

FYI, if the old numbering system never went away in the first place, RC would've been #1 EVERY year. Would've been a much cooler memory and stat.

Yeah, you're right, we shouldn't do anything like NASCAR. That little rinky dink operation that doesn't know anything about drawing a crowd or media attention.

Mx fans and Nascar fans arent the same. What works for one doesnt necessarily work for the other. The semi/permanent numbering system doesnt seem to work

In my opinion, the sport has certain traditions that should continue. Copying other sports to make MX more like them is wrong. Everyone is obsessed with drawing new fans, if the fans are worth half a shit, they will come for the good racing, and adapt to our rules, and the way we do things.

The number thing was not broken, why did we attempt to fix it?

That was core.

You gonna make it to Cooperland? Someone has to guard the beer... (yeah, I know...you doing that is like giving Lenny a date with Stewart).

I always think of MC with the #1. He ran that number so long that it just feels like he was 1, I never remember him as running the 2, so it doesn't really feel like RV took his number to me.
