Haven't heard many people talking about him, but he had a pretty solid summer. Interested in where people put him in 2020.

Wait, the 11th overall finisher in 250 Outdoor ProMotocross is going to go back and race amateur supercross on a factory bike/contract?

Lol... These shitty Pro-AM rules are embarrassing for our sport.

Does anyone know if Ty is racing SX 2021 for sure? I know they're anti-sx, so not sure if abstaining from 2020 SX is a one time thing or he's full blown outdoors only.

Anti SX is the wrong word.. why would they have a SX track at the facility? And no SX futures, wil Hahn said that recently on DMXS

Ah ok. I did not know that. That would explain why there's not much talk about 2020 SX results

Bummer. I really enjoy watching him ride.

Thanks.

Isn't Ty only 16? He's still really young, and I understand if his parents/the team don't want him on an SX track.

If he gets the fitness to match his starts outdoors, I think he'll be a legit podium contender next year.

He hasn't qualified to race SX or he would be racing SX....rules are stupid.

His dad doesn't want him racing SX, that's why he's not racing. Ty wasn't even supposed to be pro yet, things got rushed ahead for some reason. They want to give him more time learning SX and develop those skills before he races.

Ok but let's say that he did want to like Will Hahn alluded to, he can't because he hasn't qualified.

I'm pretty sure Ty could race if he wanted to. I'm not sure what the rules are on that, maybe you can chime in and be specific since I don't know what would prevent him from racing?

Ty is 18yrs so not sure if it’s the rules with sx that he needs to do sx futures to gain his sx points for his license as he didn’t race any rounds this year so may not be eligible for a sx license .

Seems like he has raced only one amateur SX event and that was in 2018 on a 125 @ A2.

In order to get his pro license he will have to race SX Futures and either (A) get top 10 in the "championship" race at Monster Cup ( B )Gain 6 points in futures which goes as follows: 1st - 5th get 3 points, 5th-10th get 2 points.

So, Ty could easily race East coast supercross by competing in 2 SX Futures events. I'm guessing he is either really bad at it still, or is too sketchy on it for Star to pull him out of SX already.

I am re-watching MX and was reminded of how good he looked at times. I think it was Thunder Valley where he holeshot and led a lap or so. He was a tick off the fast guys but not by much. It was pretty impressive. I think he could surprise.

I said this elsewhere, but if the family is against him riding SX, he should drop a CV off with Kemea Yamaha and try to carve out a career in MXGP. Unfortunately SX pays the bills in the USA, but with his young age he could possibly adapt to Europe and have a shot at multiple MX2 titles before he ages out.

As for the family and its influences, I can't imagine how hard it is to have 2 kids racing professionally after losing 1 to the sport. Whatever decisions they choose to make as a family should be theirs alone. I could never judge them.
