Undercoating on new truck opinions

I recently got a new pick up and was wondering how everyone feels about undercoating the frame? Is it worth it? I’ve seen it cost as much as 800$ around here. I live in the rust belt so I would be more interested to hear opinions from people that live in this area more than south or out west. Thanks guys.

I spray mine with fluid film every couple weeks in the winter. Still looks new underneath.

The good thing to do around here (about the worst rust belt in existence) is get it done annually. Rust Check or Krown. About $150 a shot. That big buck one time thing at vehicle purchase time, I would definitely pass on.

I have no idea about undercoatings, but if it is sold at a dealer, it is at least 50% bullshit.

This works great. I also Bed liner all my rockers and corner areas that are exposed to rocks. Plasti dip works good on chrome parts as well. Try do do it once a year.

Solid advice here.
Same procedure w Fluid Film but we spray once before winter and maybe twice again before spring.
20 yr old Chevy pickup. No rust, and that's with NY's salt/sand mix on the roads which likes to stick to everything.

Thanks for all the tips fellas. The 800 dollar place is not a dealer and do a yearly life time check up/touch up

I would still pass. And go the annual full treatment for 100 +/-.

As long as you do something at least once a year before salt hits the roads. Used 15w40 with Lucas additive works well for me. Fluid film and the way it creeps up into cracks and crevices is pretty good too. Some of the garages that undercoat around here mix chainsaw bar and chain oil with wax in it together with oil. No preference here, just do something besides watching your money rust and corrode away.
