Mikuni tmx 38mm throttle slide plating issue

This is on a 2018 ktm 125. In the course of my pursuit of better jetting specs, I’ve had issues with the plating flaking off of the replacement slides that I have purchased. The original 4.0 had 70 hrs on it with only minor scuffing but no flaking. The Kx125 5.5 slide started flaking right away, and after 10 hrs I pulled it for that reason, and I also felt like it was too lean of a slide. Then I purchased a 5.0, from JD Jetting, and it’s held up better, but l I’ve noticed a bit of flaking on it after about 15 hrs. Also, the inside of the throttle body appears to be smooth. Has anyone else had these issues?

I haven't seen that many problems with flaking chrome, but i don't usually use optional slides. I almost always cut the OEM slide to what I feel it needs to be, or slightly richer. I can alway remove material. What I have seen a bunch of times, is cracked and or missing pieces of Mikuni TMX-x slides. I haven't seen it so much with the newer Mikuni equipped KTM's, but the Japanese Mikuni TMX-x bikes, I have for sure.

look into after purchasing new slide send carb and slide off to WPC. for WPC Treatment, bet you wont have any issues again.

Get a kehin and a stic metering block. Also order up the next size Jersey, this mod will stretch your arms
