Tomac is better in sand than Ken. But Eli fell last year after he checked out at Southwick and MM won.

I just wonder if Eli went South somewhere to acclimate because being in CO is nothing like Florida in the summer.

Have to think he knows that and they did something to prep for the humidity. But last time at WW in the USGP it did hit him in the second moto and it was cooler then.

The first moto will be good for sure! I think this race will be much more exciting than any of them so far. Sand makes for great racing.

I understand the humidity is much lower but people talk about Colorado like its cold. The 10 day out look on Cortez is all mid to upper 80's. Its not like Eli only trains when its 65 degrees outside.

I was there, and I don't think it was cooler. It was an absolute humidity swamp that day, and yes, it whooped Eli. But, I believe he let it whoop him. 2nd moto at USGP was his last moto for the year. You know he was over it - had to be. "I showed them in moto 1, now I just need to get out of here and this insane humidity and get home and go hunting."

I don't know. Maybe I'm way off, but that's how I perceived his attitude.

I've told this story here before, but I'll tell it again. After his moto, Lisa was interviewing Eli, and as he was being interviewed, he was pouring bottled water all over his head. I'm not saying he's never done that before, but that was the first time I've seen that and I haven't seen it since. North Florida humidity is nothing to laugh at, and right now it is humid. It's already rained today. Haven't been by WW today, but I bet it is a fetid swamp right now. We'll be lucky if this is not a mudder. I don't mind mudders when I'm not there in person, but when I'm there, I want to see the boys going full throttle. Nothing better than a pro at full throttle.

By the way, there's been a few privateer pros at NFMX the last couple of days getting in some laps.

Have you been down here in the summer? Unless you've experienced it, it is hard to describe. Personally, I hate it. I'm closing on 60 though, and that has plenty to do with it.

Seriously, though. All I have to do is go out in my garage and begin to work on my 87 restoration project. Within minutes I am soaked completely through - literally like I jumped into a pool. It's just unbelievable. If I didn't have grand kids my wife is so attached to, I'd move to Alaska.

Just for fun, I checked the weather from Jacksonville, September 3rd, 2017.

It says: 3 sep 2017
High: 90.0 Low: 72.0

So you are right it was very hot. I am sure the humidity was high too. Right now it forecasts 93 for a high Saturday. Going down from the previous prediction of 95.

It is going to be a sufferfest! Florida motocross at its finest!

I agree ET probably toned it down in moto two back then but I also think he would have really tried to beat Herlings. At some point, he was probably too hot and tired and decided to call it. But no way he would not have wanted to beat him.

Based on previous rides at Southwick one has to think Tomac is the guy for the next 4 motos. As others said, even in 2016 when Roczen was untouchable Tomac was able to go 1-1 at Southwick. It does get hot in Cortez, it's high dez but nowhere near the humidity. However the elevation advantage compensates a bit for the lack of humidity adaptation. I say Eli takes 3 of the next 4 motos.

I'm also really interested to see who is able to step up and run with Eli and Ken going forward.

I don't think any of the others can actually run their speed but I do think they can get in their way and cause problems for them.

Or if MM, JA, CW, or even Zacho pulls a holeshot they could do what Baggett did last weekend in moto one.
