Yes I did. What's it to you?
Over here in Oz they've won the 300cc shootout 2 yrs running. They're an awesome bike. Don't be so ignorant.

IMO - I have ridden the GasGas and KTM 300's back to back - I preferred the GasGas it felt much better than the KTM in all departments.

However KTM dealer network, resale, etc etc compared to GasGas is another matter.

No mention of the crf450l? I'm torn between the 450L for that classic Honda turning ability, or go with a ktm 350exc or something..

I felt like I was taking a bit of a chance when I bought my 18 GasGas 300XC late last year but I have zero regrets. All it took was a needle and head mod to get it where I wanted. It handles like a dream, has superb stock suspension and an incredibly versatile and powerful motor. I've also ridden the newer KTMs and although nice I wouldn't give up my gasser for one.

I love my 17 KTM 300XCW. Kind of wish it had the AER fork, but once I sprung it correctly it’s really good on Eastern Woods singletrack. Honestly the best handling motorcycle I’ve ever owned. Excellent turning and stability. Great Brakes too. Zero engine vibration that plagued KTM 300s before 17. Only gripe is fork dive (which is why I said that about the AER fork). The XC version is probably better for Michigan-type Sand whoops, but for single track and gnarly the W is the way to go imo. Also have rode a 18 KTM 250XCF and it is really good too. Although desperately needed (and has) a Recluse. A lot of flame out w the 250F. For the money...tough to beat a YZ250X or the YZ250FX. Rode both of those too and great machines.

Beta 200, low saddle, nimble, torque monster with purpose built single track/highway gearbox and quality workmanship plus being able to pick it back up when exhausted after a day of tip overs and bulldoging it on trails

Hi fellow Vitards!

Looking for some feedback, am 48, 6 ft 2inch tall, and 240 lbs. Looking to trade my 2018 Rockstar Husky 450 and move over to a 2019/20 enduro bike. Looking for a bike that sits tall, is fast, and handles well.

The goal is riding in the desert and on trails... getting too bloody old for tracks not to mention not wanting to injure myself.

Thoughts please and thanks?
What kind of desert? Baja desert, or desert single track? And what kind of trails? Sand trails? Mountain double track? Mountain single track? or Roads?

And then what is your riding ability?

Answers to those questions will be very helpful in making a bike recommendation for you.

I wouldn’t trade my 18 gasser for any 2020 300 of any other brand. RK tek head and proper jetting that bike is a blast

I live in Vegas so Baja-type along with flowing trails of mount Charleston area, tight and rocky but quick.

Riding ability is advanced (30+ years).

Hope this helps

In that case, I’d get the YZ450FX.

The 300’s aren’t as good in the fast desert terrain as the 450’s...and the Yamaha suspension is WAY better than the KTM/Husky suspension.

You’ve got about 50 lbs on me....but similarly riding and experience level and it’s my next bike. I’m on a KX 450. I finally put a rekluse in it to make it manageable on slower trails...and really like it, and I was tempted to get a 19 KX450...but those YZ’s are amazing!

If you're riding fast stuff stick with a 4 stroke. If you plan on getting in the woods or riding any slower speed technical stuff then consider a 2 stroke or a smaller bore 4 stroke.

Husky 350FE or EXCf (or whatever the US equivalent XCW?) would be my choice as they feel so much lighter than a 450 if you to want to ride some slower technical stuff.

I've had 250/350/300 EXC's & 250 EXC is the best all-round do it all bike IMO.

I think that does clear it up a bit... 4 stroke is probably better for the "desert" that you mention.

But if you still want to be just off line with the mainstream, a Beta 350 RR would be fun for sure.
