95 cr125 clean up budget build

Since I just got done building my 96 cr125 I found a 95 for 500$ and went and got it. Very used and abused from a couple of squids in Chicago but hey it’s a bike. “ no compression” “bike wasn’t smoking enough out the exhaust so I added more oil to the tank” “I don’t clean my bikes...they’re dirtbikes I think they should be dirty” were actual quotes from the people who I bought it from so I got my work cut out for me but I think it’s a good base.

But I found an amazing diamond in this bag of coal!




My plans for this bike is to make it look decent but not perfect I don’t wanna go down the road of my 96 and do a full bore restoration just wanna clean it up make it run,brake and handle nicely. Going to paint the frame white and get some different plastics for it and make it a fun cheap play bike

What are those two parts on the front plate with the wire coming from them? Grip heaters?

Looks like the rear brake line is incorrect.

I have been looking for a decent 93-97 CR125 for 3 years now in my area...most are completely hammered, the ones that are half way decent are way over priced... I also see parts for these are getting very hard to find, like a decent pipe....I pretty much have given up on finding one....

Took me an hour to get the swingarm pivot bolt out of the frame and engine. Also I think putting the air filter in upside down makes like +10 more horse power. there’s a huge chip taken out of the one fork tube so that’ll be fun to deal with.

What a jem!! That one looks mint!! It’s not the first time it’s happened to me. The same thing happened on my 92 cr125 lame ass seat on the outside original underneath !!

What are your plans for it? Oem look?

How are the cases on it? Did some work on one of my bikes today and just ended up being a can of worms. Knew one of the water pump bolts was threaded and it had a replacement thread in it, but turns out the sump plug was threaded at one point, and they just drilled out the old thread and replaced it with a way larger bolt (which is already threaded).

How are the cases on it? Did some work on one of my bikes today and just ended up being a can of worms. Basically just a deep clean I’m going super cheap and using as much of the parts that came on the bike as I can for that rough but running great look. Rebuilding the suspension, engine, painting the frame, but yes oem used look lol

“Oem used look” is a good look. Like it was parked after a season in 96 until now. I’ve got a practice bike like that. I got tired of beating up my fully restored bikes.

I love that bike! I love how you didn’t put any newer anodized parts of anything like that on it. Keep old bikes looking old!!

Air boot was not put on right. Kid said he took it to the Indiana badlands (all sand) so that also took out the reeds. Which also took out the engine Smile fun stuff

Where did you get the plastics and stickers for the 1996 125? I just picked up a 96 and doing a return to stock rebuild....

Plastics from throttle jockey which I’m pretty sure are just ufo plastics. And the decals from decalworks

I did my 97 last year and still having fun riding it. Got some parts left over in case you can't find a tidbit let me know and I might be able to help...

Lucky find on the pipe. Kid put it on FB marketplace for 30.00 bucks. He wanted a FMF, LOL.
Sent it to fusion one and got it refurbished.

Just put the improved 98-99 powervales in the motor and have a Vforce Reed to put in

Vforce is the only way to go! I took a boysen off my 96 when I got it so I’ll probably put that on my 95 I’m not looking for the most this 125 can give me just looking to have fun
