WTB 07 CR250.

Edited Date/Time 5/28/2019 3:20pm
Just had a garage fire yesterday and my 07 is toasted.

Does anyone have a 07 for sale? I’m considering moving on to a gasgas or YZ but I’d like to see my CR options first. I really want another 07 but would consider 05-07 if it’s the right bike.
Thanks.
Nick

Damn sorry to hear man. Maybe a silly question but, why couldn’t you just fix and rebuild that one? Have everything vaporblasted and look new? None of the rubber or plastic pieces on the motor look harmed it looks cosmetic. I could be wrong of course just my initial thoughts. Best of luck in whatever way you choose man.

That’s a possibility but that will take some time and I want a bike to ride now. The JD dual map CDI that I just put on the bike is melted along with most wires. My hydro clutch cable is gone and the clear fuel line from the Lectron is now a hard piece of plastic along with the charred bowl. There’s no doubt that some of it is salvageable but there’s also a kit that needs replaced. Airbox/wires/front end bushes and bearings just to name a few. Some of the aluminum bolts started to melt. I had a brand new in the plastic OEM seat saved that is completely gone with other stuff. My nice almost brand new A kit shock will need work after FC just beautifully built/setup for me. This just happened yesterday and I can’t touch anything because I can’t get ahold of the damn insurance company because it’s the weekend and they’re closed (bunch of BS). For now my best bet is to get another bike so I don’t miss weeks of riding.

Like I said I’m my post I was going to retire this bike maybe next season and get some new tech but I wanted to see if a nice CR pops up to change my mind. This bike isn’t a build or show bike, I ride it a lot and build/experiment with parts in between rides.i just bought the complete engine last year. It was pulled from a new 07 for a 500AF build so I bought it just to have s new original/fresh engine. It really sucks either way. If I do get another CR I could slowly build this one and have one to ride.

2019 kx450 forks with Honda A kit lugs, the upper tubes are burnt to the bare aluminum and the DLC is hazy and feels like sand paper. Waiting to see if the lowers at least clean up. The front of the bike to most of the damage.

Even the titanium bolts are burnt.

I'm really sorry about your loss man. Ever consider an 00/01? I know that's a 19 year old bike but they're still a decent ride. I hope it all works out for you.

I posted in the other ad, but I'd be willing to meet you near the middle, if you're interested. I've spent 12 hours on worse things than getting a bike to a guy in a bad spot.

Let me considering it. If I don’t find anything close by the weekend maybe I will be taking a road trip. I drove a 13 hour round trip for this CR!! I told myself that I’d never do it again but I lie to myself a lot like that.

NP.. I hope it works out for you. As you already know the 02-07 CR2 AF chassis is as good as it gets. Good luck on your quest. Cool

Owned a new 01in the spring of that yr.. After doing some mods to it I thought the bike was dialed till I rode a local pros 03 model that was set up nicely. After putting a couple of laps in I knew the bike was much better so I ended up selling the 01 a week later.
Purchased a low hr. 03 in Dec. of that yr. that I still own today. Haven't found a better 250 2t to replace it with.
The 01 is a decent bike, but the 00 / 01 blue, yellow & green bikes of that era are better. Mostly it's the 2nd gen AF was / is very rigid & wasn't really improved over the 97-01 1st yr. AF.
In all honesty the 01 is an overrated bike.

Thanks man, much appreciated. Everyone was safe so that’s good. They are saying a cigarette caught the fence on fire which led to the garage going up. My tools in the tool box are burnt/rusted already, nothing left.

I have to say danman is very meticulous with his bikes. If I remember right, this bike was torn down to the frame about a year ago and completely gone through. I don’t think he has much time on it at all.

Guess its a matter of perspective. Bought a 00 Kx250 new. 32 hrs in and its time to replace piston. Plating was peeling off. Not really sure how that's better. I've seen more reliable toys then KX'S when taking into account busted motor mounts and cracked frames I encountered trying to be loyal to green. I may not race but considering some of the poker runs I've done exceed 55 miles. Reliability and getting back to camp is more important.

Agree. It is a matter of perspective. I was referring to the performance of the bikes & not durability.

Do you want the black one? I have a red/silver one as well. It was also in the fire but cleaned up very well. Not that I was planning to sell them but I could part with one. I’m still not sure if I’m parting the bike or not

This one was never used, I just did a quick clean to get the burnt spot off. It was in a bag that melted to it.

Stay in touch
570-twotwo5 19eightynine. Give me a day or two and I’ll pull it off and check it out for you. I had to move my bike so it’s not easy access at the moment but I’ll get there. I’m want to tear into it ASAP anyway so I could figure it out.
