All i know is the number System is Severely messed up
This Permanent Number thing is So so Dumb
It doesn't fit in OUR sport, and i pray that Some Day it Gets Fixed.
Just like The guy that earns #1 has to run Number 1,
It has meaning to earn your number every year,
Just like the privateers battle to earn a top 100
Number Again it has meaning and it does all the way through,
PERMANENT NUMBERS SUCK!

Agree with the guy above. The permanent number system stinks. Earn it when you win something. Chiz and the number 11 is a bit off in my opinion.

Sexton picked #23 last year, but I just gave Ferrandis the lowest number he is able to take

What other professional motorsport (or sport in general) doesn't operate on some kind of permanent number system? I say make riders earn the right to run single or double digit numbers, but otherwise let them run permanents.

The system is pretty arbitrary anyways since it weights 250SX regional points the same as 450SX national points. I'm tired of having to relearn numbers every year for an antiquated system that serves no real purpose.

Ferrandis and Austin I think both want 24. Austin lost his shot at his preferred number as well as a championship this year.

I don't have an issue with how riders earn career numbers, but keeping it seems way too easy. It's easier to keep a career number than earning a national number.

Either people pick what they want (a´la MXGP), OR everyone run what they earned the previous season. This mish-mash they are using now is just confusing and dumb.

Weird Vitalmx didn’t post a pre 2020 rider’s numbers yet. Not sure but I believed they did it after supercross last year.

No, not quite. You need 25 points to keep a permanent number, and about 15 to earn a national number.
