Hey, I never saw this post, the Graphics were done by Teencee in Australia.

Few other new things,

Cut mesh in airbox in an effort to help down low torque:

Also some holes in the cover to try and help down low:

Radiator braces

Acerbis Skid plate:

Beauty shots:

So nice looking. I went the other direction with mine. Took off all the new white plastics and put away to keep clean. Very pleased that the "light blue" plastics match the seat so well. Still thinking about graphics. Also- did your acerbis skid plate fit like garbage?

Curious why you are cutting mesh and adding holes specifically for low end power?
I'd like to learn something new today!

While the holes will help some - it's mostly all up top in my testing.
Air flow becomes a power hindrance with RPM - as thats when the engine is needing the most flow....

The bike will SOUND way gnarlier with the holes - and potentially run a TINY bit leaner in mapping which is generally regarded by riders as "more aggressive" in feel - although not much in my experience. But I hadn't seen huge low end gains myself.

Nice bike!

I found my skid plate fitted badly at first, but over time has moulded well to the frame and fits well now.

Can sometimes be abit fiddly to spin the bracket on the front to the correct place.

I wasn’t happy at all with the fit of the acerbis skid plate on my 18 YZ450, well it didn’t last long. 1 ride and it snapped, I did case a jump but still wasn’t that bad and wouldn’t of thought it would have broke. I ordered a works connection one and it fits much better and has an area to leave it on and change the oil. I am thinking of taking the air screen out of the air box, is that a common thing for 18+?

Nice bike!

Derek,

Honestly, it's just me testing some things really, riding the bike itself just sounds and feels choked off the bottom in comparison to my old KTM & the FMF system I thought would open it up some which it didn't really.

So in an effort to give let it breathe some, I made these adjustments, I have also noticed that it can be hard to start when the filter is oiled good which made me think the more airflow I can get in there the better & to your point there aren't any giant noticeable gains either.

I do run ear plugs anyway but the bike is super loud even from stock, I don't know how guys do not run earplugs!

@wiztardo - The plate didn't fit great but honestly it wasn't that bad, I had to shoehorn the one side bolt on but apart from that... I actually wanted the Cycra one but they were out of stock when I ordered it.

@jake_pischke - Wow didn't last long, hoping my survives, the main reason I got mine was to help cleaning really as I hate getting all that mud jammed up in the engine area, hence why I bought one without holes under it too.

In terms of the screen I honestly wouldn't recommend doing what I did, it was a nightmare to do & all the jagged edges made me nervous of a stainless piece of mesh falling into the cylinder so I ended up epoxying the underside of it to mend all the jagged bits. It was filed and cleaned up for hours but because the mesh is embedded into the plastic casting it makes it a super pain, I'd look into buying a CNC'd one as they do sell them, they are just hell expensive

@brad460 - I haven't seen one squared up on any Yamaha that shape yet, they all seem to sit a bit off.

Top end gain is significant. I was pleased on the track, less shifting with longer pull down the straightaway.

Really just done some clicks here & there on different tracks. Softened a bit when i first got it as it felt really stiff but now i have ended up going back in on the compression that it's bedded in.

I will be getting it revalved here soon

Posting this to maybe help a few other newer Yamy owners if they have a similar problem.

I noticed the throttle cable adjustment on mine basically wound all the way out on the adjuster near the handlebars and couldn't figure out what was going on, I mean it's only like 15hrs old and I had run out of adjustment. So anyway I put it to the back of my mind to adjust it at the throttle body itself as I assumed there would be an adjustment there.

I pulled the cover back and had a look and there is the threaded insert and locking nut but actual no adjustment, I would have had assumed there was some sort of standard cable adjustment there but there isn't. So what I did was slit a few washers (To get them on the cable) and adjusted the lines coming into the throttle body, didn't turn out too sketchy, works great & gives me all my adjustment back at the handlebar.

I asked a few other newer Yamy owners about theirs at the track and they all have the adjuster backed out all the way like mine was too so it seems pretty common.
